    china sure is fucking uppity.
With RECP now covering 1/3 of the world's GDP. China basically stole US's TPP playbook and throw a UNO reverse card at them.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Region...ic_Partnership

The question is how much ambition is there for the big 3 countries to start shit. If Russia retake Ukraine, China may retake Taiwan in locked step because they know US is out of options now that no economic sanction will work against China/Russia now China has outlets like Vietnam/Japan/Korea to get Chines shit into US and really can't afford to fight 2 fronts militarily.

Even Mexico and Canada is helping China in sidestepping US sanction/tariffs. With HP servers all have final stage in Mexico and an Canadian Company is now pushing Chinese EV in Canada and US. Tariff? pfff.

Yup, the US cannot sanction both Russia and China at the same time without it hurting the US itself more.

Never though it would be a thing, but it could be a thing.

Russia and China are correctly reading the world situation and using this opportunity for expansion. USA is weak, and Europe is somehow even weaker.

Why would they? When they are all enjoying what shakes loose when 2 giants duke it out and take a cut when both stop dealing with each other directly.

End of the day, it's just business.

Bingo, Europe has sold out to Chinese ever since trying to survive 2008 global downturn and to Russia for sweet sweet gas.

Because the Russians and the Chinese are both ideologically immature and will fight.

The rest of them will be less than thrilled with what a Chinese hegemony in their part of the world will actually look like.

Some would say that in order to stay #1 you must be ever vigilant. Its not up to the second and third place gorilla to have restraint, its up to the top gorilla to not show weakness.

800 pound gorilla looking a little bit like a 650 pounder right about now.

3 rounds in March I heard. Queue based on birthday or something.

It got a bit better after a 11month old and 3 year old died of Omi.

Many top companies with expat work forces has ask executive to relocate away from HK for now due to major disruptions. And as usual, SMBs took it up the ass.

After CCP fired all the Xi'an officials who couldn't hold the line on zero covid policy, now there is a wide spread report that regional officials are shutting down everything to keep up with 0 COVID to save their jobs. Enough that CCP now have to revise that no lockdown unapproved by central gov and keep SMBs operating. The conflicting message is idiotic. can't wait for my colleague come back from Tianjin for more stories.

HK doctors and researchers @ HKU had been hinting at that for years. But that topic is taboo because Pfizer is only available in to the SARs and not to other Chinese. And because patriotism.

And people are already anti-vax to a degree, especially common talking point is Chinese ADV vax has less severe side effect than Pfizer.

    Antivaxxers.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/25/b...d-elderly.html

Before the current outbreak, less than half of people in that age group were vaccinated. Among residents of care homes, the rate was even lower, at just 20 percent, according to the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. Now they are bearing the brunt of the city’s worst outbreak. More than 200 people have died this month from Covid, many of whom were over 70 and unvaccinated.

For most countries in the world, people over 70 dying is a net positive. Now, it's sad when it happens, but let's not act like it's bad for society.
