I don't get this take. He's already annexed coming here once (rumored to be because of his wife) so why would that change? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Based on everything from Tre and even his agent it sounds like it was a done deal but at the 11th hour something changed. All the talk about "it was a family decision" screams emotional pregnant wife giving ultimatums. Not saying thats the case but with what you said about her never visiting but both sides thinking they were close its hard to imagine another scenario where that wasn't the main factor. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. He had a NTC. Plus we had a stellar regular season, imagine the backlash trading him (if even possible that he waived NTC) at the trade deadline before the playoffs. That’s your answer. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What should’ve been done was lock him down to an extension last year. I’m not sure why that wasn’t done.

Exactly. Good riddance. Let someone else over pay that buggerThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
His decision, and he's leaving money on the table. So its all on him and his family. I think the 10.5 was an overpay, but at least Tre tried.
I just hope they don't try and make up for it with a big terrible signing. No Kadri. Strome? Trocheck? meh
Dedication and money can only influence so many things, family will eventually take priority if a player has any soul.
Plus playing in Canada sucks unless you love the attention and constant disappointment.
Simple. Because he was less than 1pt/game the past couple seasons and the flames ownership “wanted to see more” well you got it. That’s how it goes lol Don’t get me wrong, it hurts and it fkn sucks. But it is what it is. Lock him down during a down year and say I BELIEVE IN YOU. lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

If the cap keeps going up, 10.5 will not be over pay! And assuming he keeps piling up points lol

This is an absolutely terrible take. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Mcdavid and Draisaitl make the same play 10x/ game.
Either way, asset management on this team is terrible.
Figure out who wants to stay in Calgary on a fair deal, trade those who don't.
Either you're committed to the team or you aren't.
Johnny should have been traded two years ago, Tkachuk should be traded this year.
Big rumor that multiple players want out now that Johnny is gone.
Interested to see how this plays out.

Tkachuk gone next year I think. CGY not a contender anymore.
Just looking at old posts and articles, looks like flames made an offer for 9x8 and gaudreau’s camp turned it down last year. You’re right, if the cap blows up, 10.5 or even 11 would be a good deal. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Reading between the lines, the rumours yesterday were Johnny countered something late in the afternoon and the Flames thought it was a done deal. If those are both true it sounds like the Flames accepted a counter and then Johnny backed out. Who really knows, but fuck that stings.
Yea ppl say things like he can’t get it done in the playoffs lol we’ll pray for us to get there first … lol so what we gonna do now? Kadri? Lol

And in OT in a must-win game in your own zone, you should probably at least lean on Draisaitl instead of assuming he'd cough up an easy puckThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Hindsight is 20/20 and Gaudreau was far from the reason the Flames lost that series.
Flames are now flat out much worse now that Gaudreau is gone. He was involved in 30% of their offense.
Honestly, at this kind of payment the Flames are best off moving on. It sucks to see him walk for nothing (as it always does for star players) but he just isn't worth it. While supremely skilled, his size will always affect his maximum potential - especially during playoff time. The isn't isn't so much losing JG as much as it is to try to replace his production - in particular, regular season production.
Frankly, if Marky can't elevate his game in the playoffs, it's all for naught anyway.
Treliving and Edwards don't seem to understand that the GM game is asset management. Tampa is a good example of an organization that understands it. Baseball actually has more examples (Tampa, Oakland, etc)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

New player, new jerseys more revenue.
It's all entertainment at a cost to you the fan.
If the Flames end up doing nothing today they will be so awesomely mediocre next season, leading to Tkachuk leaving and going full rebuild
they need to do nothing today and trade Chucky at the point of maximum valueThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
