I think Calgary needs to own way way more of this blame for not doing their homework on their asset. It's not like they don't have intel. They either knew damn well that their LaDyBiNg WiNnEr was about to fly the coup and gambled anyway, (which isn't that crazy in a division winning year), or, they were wishing in one hand and shitting in the other and have now seen which one gets filled first.

He's an American. Teams that bank on Euro players have sown their seeds year after year in playoffs because Euro players (generally) give way less fucks about hoisting a cup compared to others. I think it's clear that 13 is closer to a Euro player than a Canadian and this move is massive evidence of that.
He had a different set of priorities that didn't just come to light within the last month. The Flames should've known.
