I think most people are narrative creatures, and I'm no exception. I finally figured out a story that I could believe.
Its about unconventional matchups.

Basically, if Markstrom can hold Connor to 2 goals a game, I think the other 18 guys can score and defend well enough against the oilers 18 to be +2 or better.

It sounds like it was a much different game live than it was watching on TV. I though the flames played horrible and none of the 3 goalies could stop anything. It was like an early season game where neither team gave a fuck. The only positives I took away was Mike Smith lived up to being a massive plug, the linesman saved Kane after he tried to go after looch for hitting McJesus, and Kassian turtling at the end of the game when looch rag dolled him. Maybe I need to watch the game again but I did not think it was a good game at all.

Flames dominated the Oilers the majority of the night. They get even remotely average goal tending and its a totally different game. And yea not a game they'll be looking to replicate, but take the win and run.
