In the Tim and Friends interview he says he is coming out with something for the fans. He just wanted the presser to be about Columbus and didn't want to make that about Calgary.

Flames filed for club elected arbitration witch Chucky. I guess that means he can no longer accept their 1 year qualifying offer and he can't accept an offer sheet either while they are in the process of arbitration. At the end of it he still may end up with 1x $9M but this buys them time and protects the process a bit. Knowing how Matt's last negotiation went and Brady's recent deal/hold out went I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he didn't even reply to the qualifying offer yet and was just going to ride any sort of discussion out until training camp started - that seems to be the Tkachuk style.
