Columbus just offered Johnny $12m X 7 years. Fuck me, if he signs that he was never staying here.

I'd love to know where this rumor started because I saw it on instagram too. Especially because he signed for like $9.75M which is a far cry from $12M. Also hearing he turned down a bigger offer from NJ around the $10.5M range. None of this makes any sense. My new current theory is he wanted to go where no one in the hockey world gave a flying fuck about him or the team and Eric Francis would finally leave him alone because he left money on the table and he's still almost 800km from "home"

Looks like in Ohio he will be about 41% income tax. In alberta it would be about 48%. So it's pretty much a wash in terms of money for him between Columbus and calgary
