I agree he was done here.

But you can't help but think what if.
The raw skill was always there, but he wasn't given any runway to grow and was consistently flanked with replacement level players.

Its more a reflection of the poor coaches Calgary has chosen over the years.

Bennett was a completely different player under Sutter

We've had generally poor asset management for many years. This is one glaring example. Not Trading Gio in-season last year is another

I've decided to be a casual, if that, viewer of the Flames this year. It's basically a dogshit organization - Murray Edwards' talent seems to be limited to creating climate change, dodging taxes, and fooling taxpayers into paying for arenas.

Plus his devilish good looks. I've been too busy to watch any games. I'll watch some, and listen to a few on the radio, like most years. I am a bandwagon fan, so if they are good by new-years I'll start paying closer attention.

I'm hearing more and more about Eichel coming here for Johnny... God I hope that turns out to be true.

Any source? Because I haven't heard the slightest of that, not to mention I don't see how that trade gets executed or makes any sense to Buffalo. Buffalo's 4-1-1 start is most likely a fluke and they will come down to the basement near the end so picking up a rental to get you a few more wins resulting in a lower draft pick goes against the rebuild. Johnny has a 3 team NMC and him waiving that for Buffalo when he's on the cusp of being a FA, I don't see that being a desired destination even if it is closer to home for him. Plus Buffalo then doesn't get the long term starters that they desire. Then, on the flames side you're giving up your 1st line winger (at the moment) for a guy who more than likely is not going to play this season given he hasn't even had the surgery he wants yet cause of the arguing.

A trade for Eichel would have to involve giving up Valimaki or Kylington, probably someone like Dube, another top AHL prospect and a few picks.

The only people who say that are Calgary media and daydreaming fans, just like the media and fans from any other hockey city.

I don't believe it at all.

Why would Buffalo want this? Johnny has only this season left on the contract, and Buffalo doesn't care about this season. Could be a "throw-in" to make the money work, but the asking price from buffalo isn't going down with johnny in the deal. So really, the trade would be Eichel for "the moon" plus the last few months of an expensive contract.

Johnny would not be moved in a package for Eichel.

If anything Eichel will be used as bait to have Johnny stay.

Johnny for Eichel makes zero sense. Post something that makes sense.

He’d be on LTIR for the whole season as well right? So it makes sense in that he can be reactivated for the playoffs salary cap loophole, assuming we even make the playoffs haha.

If the surgery goes wrong and his career is over, who pays the salary? Flames or insurance?

In this division, we'll make the playoffs.

No source just lots of the same rumors on the interwebs. Johnny and a First Rounder for Eichel. It has nothing to do with what Buffalo wants. Eichel is leaving one way or another.

If Buffalo has dropped the asking price that far, then that's a HUGE change from what was previously reported. Massive. Like less than half the previous ask. I would be shocked if no other team was willing to beat an offer of a first rounds and six months of Johnny.

Ya that's not happening, and Johnny isnt a center. He's also not under team control pass this year. So He's pretty worthless to Buff

I still want Eichel but most of the rumours are all Monahan plus pieces, to which I'd love to see happen, and I love Monahan.

This trade proposal is actually a lose-lose for both teams.
