Your experience basically lines up with the data. The vaccines were effective at preventing infection and severe outcomes pre omicron. With omicron it’s only preventing severe outcomes. So it’s completely normal that everyone is getting it. The difference is that people aren’t dying left and right from getting it. So in essence, it’s over (unless a new deadlier variant emerges).

As well as the timing with Spring Break just wrapping up... It was a perfect storm.

On a somewhat separate topic, I know some folks who go to work after being exposed to Covid directly in the household and you wonder if they're missing a chromosome. That irks me a bit because it's not like you can't WFH.

the worst feeling was the reaction I got from the first shot. I had caught covid before even considering the shot and it was't as bad as the news made it seem AND I have asthma. I caught covid a few months ago and felt nothing.

If they have no symptoms what is the problem? Fully within the guidelines today. I mean if it was me, I’d do a courtesy rat test and be on my way. I've been on both sides of the fence, hanging out with people that had active covid in the house. No issues. One of our kids was testing negative with a courtesy RAT test and still went out with friends even tho his brother was isolating and positive at home. Next day tested positive. Isolated to him, nobody else got it. Is this an unpopular opinion?

For sure but my company explicitly tells you that you should stay home and work. I should have added that detail. Most folks where I am salivate at the chance to WFH and not need to come downtown.

I don't have anyone close to me, family or friends, who is not vaccinated so I haven't had to make that decision. What I will say is that the handful of people in the acquaintance category who have been vocal anti-vax have permanently changed my opinion of them, a couple of businesses as well one of which I was very fond of. It's too bad really.
