Are most realtors accountable for their actions? Realtor.ca says 'basically no'.

That doesn't say that at all.
I was just gonna say, I think Msommers is interpreting that wrong. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I think it’s funny that the people who have the most disdain for realtors are the ones who seem to put them up on some bizarre pedestal.
They provide a service for a fee. If you don’t think the service provided is worth the fee, well you don’t have to use them. This isn’t rocket science.

I thought the first day a discount listing service was created we all assumed some full-fee realtors would avoid those listings. That's what I assumed anyway. Did others think realtors were somehow immune to acting in their own best interest?
I respect and value realtors. I have used them and I would likely use them again next time. But always important to compare cost to value for every service.

It becomes buyer beware due to all the fine print on every listing and website and that's without getting to the listing contract. So msommers is right realtors aren't technically accountable for their actions at all. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Your better off suing the agent representing you for failing to guide you through the process if an issue arises.
On the topic of shady realtors I've dealt with hundreds of realtors who did exactly as they did in this article. If your not paying 3.5/1.5 then they won't bother showing your listing or will trash your product to their buyers.
Realtors seem to think they own their clients and that they should buy only what they tell them to buy.
Did they try and sell a scalped PlayStation for less than you or something?

Bit of a problem if you're buying and they're not showing you houses simply because they're using a discount service. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

So in the discovery phase, the bonehead realtor told his lawyer to use that disclaimer. Uh huh. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Meh… some of those exclusive buyer contracts state the service fee… so if the seller isn’t willing to offer it, I would think it would come out of the buyer’s end… that combined with discount listing users also being crack cocaine enthusiasts when it comes to setting a listing price, and negotiating. It’s not really a surprise they tend to sit longer than realtor listed properties… also with buyers having the ability to search MLS for these listings without realtor intervention, I don’t see how a viewing is not happening if the buyer is willing? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I had a realtor try to get me to sign a buyer's contract once. I laughed.

Sure. Nothing to stop buyers from offering a price though and with an agent fee prescribed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm sure some people sign exclusive buyer contracts. People also buy extended warranties.

It would be like an engineer stamping drawings for a bridge and it later failing, but claiming that their results are really good but not guaranteed and you take all the risk by hiring that engineer.

Does anyone expect anything else from that profession? They are basically used car salesmen. Sure some are really awesome and will get you a great deal, but most are absolute shite.

Do realtors stamp listings? Is that a service people would be willing to pay more for?
