I enjoy Peterson mainly for the more in depth analysis he does as well as the historical context he provides for a lot of philosophy and physchology.
I don't know if I'd call him a huge influence. He's just a guy with a lot of knowledge, and can deliver it in an easy to digest form.
I think this is important though, the average layman does not understand why society/politics/culture is where it currently is, and people like Peterson help them understand how we got here.
