Oof, you definitely don't want to be on Ta-Nehisi Coates side of this one. If "incel" crossed your mind, you likely stumbled on some butthurt activist writing nonsense about him. That charge, like most that the woke mob throws his way, doesn't even make sense.

Not on any side. Not overly familiar with Coates' works, nor do I care to frequent extremist political sites either. But I have to say, any time I see JB Peterson's name come up in a post, it tends to evoke the image of a moderately unsuccessful or closet insecure poster rallying behind the hopeful words of this guy. And in the interviews I've seen of him, his commentary is always coloured by a bit of anger at the world too. Maybe you're right though, incel is probably too far. Just a bit of a loser then?

I see the opposite.

From what I hear, many people have found themselves in the position of cleaning up their act and focusing on things that contribute to a more positive life as a result of what Peterson hopes to share: personal responsibility and accountability, willingness to embrace/confront harsh realities, and finding meaning in life despite however dark it may be at times.

I can't fathom why people would take a message like that and warp it into something it isn't.

If you look at the average person and see how much shit they don't have a handle on, you'd be a bit jaded too.

JBP is on point. I was first exposed to his youtube lectures at U of T after students tried to cancel his ability to speak at an event here in Calgary. I checked out his content to see what the fuss was about.

4 years later, I've realized there's two camps:

1. People who have reads his books, watched his lectures and debates, and formed an opinion. I've yet to meet someone who has consumed his content and labelled him a racist, transphobe, etc.
2. People who regurgitate the opinions of others. This group is focused on cancelling him.

His lectures on personality traits, predictors of success, and general psychology are fascinating. The guy is crazy smart. Listening to his arguments on 'Munk Debates' opened my eyes to the toxic dogma that is proliferating on both sides of the political spectrum. Anyone trying to censor JBP on the grounds of hate speech is intellectually bankrupt.

I didn't reference any sort of alt-group? Those who have consumed his content, and those who haven't - I'm not sure how there could be another camp in this scenario.

You'll also want to review the definition of incel - which is involuntary celibate - JBP is married with children.... so doesn't exactly fit the definition.
