The reason standard time isn’t an option is because everyone else is going year round daylight time on the west coast. BC will be adopting it once the US does.
I did not know this. TIL.

Not looking good for the change happening, seems inevitable once the states and bc join the Yukon and Saskatchewan, with ab being stuck in the time zone as bc

It's too close to 50/50 to bother with a vote on this. This is, and always has been, a massive waste of time.
Wait until one side gets to 65% and then vote to put it the fuck to bed. It's interrupting my reconciling.
    I'm reconciling so fuckin hard.

LOL! I didn't think Albertans were that divided over changing the clocks. Not gonna lie, I was expecting like.... overwhelming majority to stop changing clocks.

There is some numbers in the comments here showing referendum results:

The US is actually a hilarious situation. States like Arizona don't roll their clocks back and forth, they stay on standard time all the time and there is no issue. But Cali/Oregon/Washington all voted to go to permanent DST. Legally though the Uniform time act however, states are not permitted to stay on DST. So even though they all voted to do so, it has to go through the federal government to allow them to do so. If they chose to simply go to standard time they could've done it 3 years ago when they voted.

AB going to standard time would make no sense with the time changes between BC and Sask. At this point its permanent DST or bust.

Eventually enough states will vote for no time change, doesn't matter if they pick S or D, then the feds will step in and decide on something.

It's actually not a horrible way to do it.

Shows you how little people care about Municipal politics. The Conservative hub of Alberta full of people that want to assassinate Trudeau, votes in Trudeaus hard left lackey bitch as Mayor.

The Conservative hub of Alberta .
The conservative hub that has consistently had a Liberal or NDP member of Parliament for the last 30 years? Pretty sure there's more conservative places to be found in Canada.
