Mods, feel free to move this to the coronavirus sub-forum.
Given that Covid19 vaccinations are likely to be approved for ages 5-12 pretty soon, I thought I'd take a quick poll to see what parents opinions are of this.
Immediately sign up my kids - No time to waste!
Probably sign up my kids, maybe not right away - Why rush?
Probably not sign up my kids - Don't see the benefit
I don't have kids, but I like polls.

Considering every time my kid gets a runny nose it turns into a 36-48 hour adventure of pulling her out of daycare, getting her tested, managing childcare, and trying to maintain gainful employment during that period. Which is basically a weekly occurance.
Yea. I want her vaccinated and to stop pretending this pandemic is still a thing as soon as possible.

My oldest just turned 4, so I’m part of the wait and see for a year either way. If I did have 5-12 year olds I’d probably sign them up fairly quickly. Math is still on the side of the vaccines being lower risk compared to actual COVID.
Hopefully the government will change the language in the vaccine passport requirements and they’ll apply to anyone eligible for vaccination, with no sweeping exemption based on age. If you’re eligible, you get vaccinated or you don’t go to restaurants, get on a plane, go to an event etc…
I don’t think there is any valid scientific reason why it should optional for 5-11 if it’s essentially mandatory for 12+. Although I would expect there to be a lot of parents complaining if the passport requirements are all of a sudden extended to their kids
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
Math is on the side of your kid getting smoked in a car accident on the way to the vaccination being the higher risk than the vaccine. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

For sure. I wish more people understood risk and probabilities. It’s not a coincidence that people with college degrees have a higher uptake compared to high school or less educations. We could have been out of this shit by now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They are working on 6 months to 4 years right now so that will be a thing in the new year so you will not have to wait too much longerThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

This … i hate the running nose… damn kids get runny nose every time they go outside …
My kid in the 5-12 age range is highly susceptible to respiratory infections, and has a history of breathing issues, so yeah, I'm getting that jab into them ASA-fucking-P.

My boys are both under the age of 5, but the oldest will be 5 in ~6 months, so I would be getting him the jab once he's 5

I'm interested to see the results of this poll.
Kids almost always tend to come out of Covid just fine, but the real issue is our need as a society to limit spread. If the anti-vax adults aren't going to do their part to reduce cases, I guess my 9 year old will have to do the mature thing for them.
