My point isn't that these rules never get broken on film sets, my point is that Alec Baldwin who is extremely vocally anti-gun clearly doesn't have a problem pulling a trigger on someone for a paycheck.

Don’t politicize this, this was a tragic accident, Alec or anyone else did not want this to happen.

Someone screwed up big time but it was not Alec or the people that were shot…

Firearm safety 101 - Treat every gun like its loaded.
Sounds like production was cutting corners to save $.

Ya ok. Can only imagine if it was a right leaning individual who was against gun control had done this.

One huge piece of info you guys are glossing over.... he's an ACTOR in this situation, I can't think of a better alibi. I really hope I'm wrong.

I think the point some are making, unrelated to this situation, is that it's ironic he is so anti-gun but earns money from glamorizing gun violence.

How is being an actor an alibi?

Is that like claiming not criminally responsible due to mental insufficiency?

Because technically the actor is using a prop, not a firearm. There’s literally a team of people to ensure that the props are harmless.

If there’s guilt to be assigned, it’s somewhere between the firearms safety crew up to the production company.

Alex Baldwin was the producer right? So it’s his fault?

I don’t actually care about any of this, seems like an OHSA matter at this point.

I think he owns the production company, but yea there’s a possibility there.

I personally think he’s a douche, but as an actor who’s knowledge is that he’s acting with a prop, some of the comments in here are out there.

I've been following a group on FB called Crew Stories for years, and naturally there's an uptick in activity lately. The consensus from pretty much everyone is that there are supposed to be a lot of steps and people involved when working with weapons of any kind on set, and the reality is that unqualified people were handling these items more than likely, as they see a lot, because the Producer is cheap AF and doesn't want to pay for the qualified staff. For shots that fire towards the camera, the camera is often remotely controlled and has protective glass to avoid weird ricochettes.

I think we are massively overestimating the abilities of these “armorer” cowboys who low bidded this production, as msommers has said.

My guess is it’s someone with a substantial collection rather than an actual professional. It’s the states.

The fact that there was 3 incidents in the 24 hours prior shows they DGAF about safety.

The armorer is 24 years old. Sounds like the investigation is focusing on the armorer and the assistant director with the 62 yr old AD having a history of reckless behaviors on set.

It's s shitty situation for all.

I question if this is purely accidental or if there is intent. Given IATSE was about to go on strike last week but called off in the 11th hour.

And it doesn't sound like union members got what they wanted out of the deal.

Won't surprise me if there is a disgruntle crew among them wanting to make a statement.

Also Squid Game's success now has Hollywood looking at offshoring to Asia, probably why union caved.

Wouldn't surprise me, Unions at their die-hard member level and/or inner hierarchy are typically filled with thugs who have nothing but contempt for their employer and the rest of the workforce. Up there with the level of entitlement otherwise reserved for smokers and dog owners.

I am lost as to why live rounds are ever used?
You'd think they're setup a prop gun to not accept a live round.
But I'm ignorant and also unwilling to read all the previous banter and news stories.

It’s as if they were real working guns or something, and the armorer was an idiot or something.

Probably handed Alec their EDC or something
