True blue voters are mad at things out of their control. Vote in NDP to spite.
The few that I know who did this last time, seemed like they have learned their lesson enough to not repeat it. But voters are known to have rather pathetic memory recall.

Conservatives in this province can't even agree what the word conservative means. The infighting is the real enemy.

Did a substantial number of the religious conservatives die of covid? Hopefully, so we can remove that portion of the fringe.
As usual, most Conservative voters are just Libertarians that are voting for the least worst option. I don't think there's many fag hating, abortion banning, real Conservatives left.

But if there are, they'll be sure to find that one to run for leader.

Again tell me what's difference between BC's stage 3 and 4 in term of openness?

The only caveat they put in is the "Safety Plan" that I'm sure everyone read and followed.

Meanwhile Stampede while opened, actually follow more closely to BC's spectator limit policy.

Again AB's messaging is the issue. BC kept PHO Guidance in place to keep everyone aware we are not out of this yet but AB just say life is back to normal.

In the end all 3 western provinces had the same/similar issue with 4th wave. Just at slightly different times. But BC announcing vaccine passport on Aug 23rd probably help a bit to get the last bit of hesitant population to get their shot ahead of the wave.
There was IMHO a minor difference in the summer between AB and BC as far as the restrictions went and the timing of them. The main difference I saw was in the attitude of people. There was just more anger and outrage in Alberta about everything JK did. I mean, I get it you guys hate him, but it must be tiring to constantly just take everything he/UCP does and be angry about it. At this point, if he cured cancer, people would still be angry he did.

BC Phase 3 wasn't a lot different than Alberta; we had raves, big 1000+ people parties, sporting events, people starting goes to restaurants again, vacation and travel, it was like it was the 'before times' here. The people who seemed to be mad, were Albertans who noticed that BC was doing the same thing as Alberta.

The recurring theme here seems to be Albertans are just mad. At everything to do with government. All the time. Regardless of who is in power. You guys are going to get Notley back in and be just as angry.

And yes, it isn't lost in me that I've only been a BCer for 2.5 years.

Yea, I mentioned this throughout the last year sporadically. Feels like the news outlets saw an opportunity to fuel the fire, and took advantage of it. Not much coverage of BC issues, while Alberta news was churning out article after article of meaningless coverage citing twitter outrage. That's not news.

And ya, it's tiring just hearing about it, let alone driving that narrative. I've completely quit social media with the exception of beyond for mental health sake.

I mean, Kenney did come out and specially hoot and holler about open for summer and never closed again. He brought it on himself.. I don’t follow BC news but pretty sure Horgan didn’t quite dig the same hole for himself

The picture that the Canadian media is painting of Alberta is that we have bodies piled in the streets and it's a zombie apocalypse.
My friends in Ontario and my family in other parts of the country are calling me, literally concerned for our well being; like we were trapped in fucking Haiti or some shit.

If you believe that and you don't live here, you get a pass.
If you believe that while living here and feel we'd be in some Kubla Kahn, bullshit utopia with any other premier of any other colour in charge, I can't help you. No one can help you.

Do you think the virus "identifies" with Danish politics and stopped at the German border because feelings??!? Or do you think a virus stops spreading with catastrophic outcomes due to high vaccination rates?

Socialism has never eradicated a virus. Neither has Fascism, Communism, Conservatism, Libertarianism or Down's Syndromism. It's as sensible as attempting to pray the virus away.

No pass from me. People need to wake the fuck up and do enough critical thinking to see through the political manipulation.

It’s as if people will just use any reason and situation ti try and justify their political ideals or something.

It’s actually this hilarious phenomenon these days where NDP voters try and pretend like they are apolitical enlightened prophets or some nonsense when the reality is they just want more of other people’s money to pay for the things they want.

Oh yea, I almost forgot, when someone poses a founded criticism of your brand of choice. Make sure to note that “yea well, the other guys are totally the same if not worse”.

When all else fails. Bring up abortion or some other nonsense.

Totally this. The news and social media made it sound like Alberta was a 3rd world country with no services.

I was debating whether to cancel a trip back in Sept to Calgary. Spoke with a few friends and asked "What's it really like there? Are there bodies lining the streets??". Some friends were telling me that if I needed emergency medical services, i'd be left on the side of the road because the medical system collapsed. Others said "You go out, wear a mask, follow any policies/restrictions of the places, that is it. If you are dying and in need of medical services, you'll still get helped. If you broke your arm, don't bother going to the hospital and go to a walk in clinic".

In practice there hasn't been a significant deviation in policies between BC/AB. Rhetoric and people's reaction to it, big difference.
