Default Bought a bunch of laptops in Vancouver, can I get the HST back?

I ordered a handful of Macbook Pros at $4-5k each, to be delivered to Vancouver as that's where I'll be in early Nov.

I am an Alberta resident so I don't want to pay the BC HST on a larger purchase like this.

Apparently there's a HST rebate form you can fill out to get the difference back, but I'm not sure if it's easier to just cancel the order and re-order for delivery to Calgary.
The only issue with cancelling and reordering is that delivery times are now mid-Dec for the MBP.

Anyone have experience with the HST rebate form before?

They are currently available for in store pickup, for tomorrow morning. So my recommendation would be to do that then cancel your other order.

Assuming you have a standard config.

Can’t help you with the form, but it seems straightforward enough.

How quickly do you need the HST back?
Would you be bummed if they denied you or "lost the paperwork" and you got nothing?

I thought BC canned HST a few years ago and went back to the GST+PST structure?

I'm submitting this thread to the CRA whistleblowers hotline. They still have a bounty for that, right?

Probably just a tax credit at this point.

I would probably cancel and order to deliver in Calgary. Just a much easier process (assuming you don’t need a lot of customization and you have no issues with bringing it down afterwards).

I thought the great argument FOR PST was to force visitors to pay more?
