    Default Monitor Recommendation

I need help with a monitor recommendation. The last time I bought a monitor was back in 1998. It was for my Intel Pentium 2 350mhz PC for university.

I have a $750 unused IT credit that will expire soon. I would like to buy two monitors(hell, why not even three.?).

I work with a lot of data(Excel) and testing bespoke insurance software. I currently have two old monitors that someone at work donated to me two years ago. They are OLD.

I need two big screens I don't have a clue what to buy. Do I buy one big curved one? If I buy two big monitors, can someone recommend something from memory express?

If all you do is documentation work then a single 31/32" wide curved in a 1440 res is the most you'll need.

If you do anything else... videos.. gaming etc.. Go for at least 2x27" in 1440

what are you plugging it into?
a company laptop? or our own desktop w/ a pretty killer graphics card?
do you work locally or do you have to remote in? I don't think there's many (or any) remoting platforms that allow for triple mon.

my personal setup: use the laptop display as one screen, extend to a 43" 4k resolution (if you look at a 43" it's effectively 4 screens of 21.5" at 1920x1080

    My work setup is 1 4K 32” and 2 1080p 24’s.

    I’d prefer 2 32’s. I used to be on the 2x27 until I tried a 32 and now I wouldn’t go back.

I can use 3 monitors in RDP no problem…

I have 2 x 28" 4K monitors, plus the 13" laptop screen @ 2880 x 1800 resolution. All the real estate I need. I have good eyesight tho, someone like @killramos who's 1/2 blind and needs 1080p on 24" wouldn't be able to see shit on my setup.

Depends if you need quantity or quality?

Need to see fine detail with your work/edit photos on the side? 2x 32inch monitors

I need 3 screens for work, so i run 3 x 24in monitors, (1 screen is always shared, so still get to run 2 for active work projects)

3 full screens is doable with some laptops and a dock. i can run the laptop as a 4th screen, but it starts to get a little laggy

Its plugging into my Dell work laptop. Its a USB-C Connection. Nothing fancy. I am currently hacking & using one of these to connect the second monitor.

For now I work remotely at home. I usually have two or three spreadsheets open on the two screens(soo much friggin data), plus another screen for tickets. Or if im testing I'l have a live site and test site side by side. Detail is important. One of the old software has font size I cannot increase.

My current screens are 24'(including border). I think the screens are 22'. I have the laptop open for emails.
I don't play any games. But that could change this winter if I get bored out of my brain and buy a gaming laptop. But im not too fussed on graphics. The only games I play are Civilisation and Left for Dead.

@jwslam I had a look online at the 43'. Do you (or anyone) here know if these are any good for data side by side work?

Im leaning towards the two monitor setup.

Any thoughts on these two? I have not used two wide screens side by side.

I personally think two 27" monitors are awesome. I don't like one giant monitor for document work, but for photo editing it's awesome.

    Great keyboard, love that thing

impressive, is this at 100% scaling?

I have 27" 1440p + 24" 1080p at home and happy with it. I only use the 27" primarily, my wife needed the 2nd monitor only for her WFH otherwise I never use it myself.

At work I have 2x 24" 1080p but once we are back to office full time again, I might bring my extra 27" 1440p to work for more landscape.

Ok so after some research. Pixel density seems to be rather important.

London Drugs seems to beat Memory Express for price.

4K Asus for $299. I still got a little over $100 left in my spending account.

I'd recommend getting a monitor with better ergos.
Look for a monitor with a stand like this guy, unless you're using an arm. If so then ignore me

I would argue that for a work computer pixel density is one of the least important considerations…

4k TV as a giant monitor seems to be the right idea, especially with Windows 11 snap layouts.
Gotta watch for pixel density, refresh rate, input lag, and chroma though which rules out the really cheap TVs.
