This has already been said 5x but the same Ineos?! Wow
@killramos what's your expectation on pricing? Defender territory? Little pricier?
Base spec is pretty austere. I’d imagine it starts a little north of loaded Rubicon say 85k?
Then up from there. It’s not well defined how nice these will get at the top end, they have been very clear that there is a “lifestyle” market target for these though so I think mid defender territory up high with nice interiors etc.
Keep in mind there isn’t a bunch of engines being offered or anything, just the BMW straight 6 gas here as well as a diesel straight 6 in Europe.
Information has mostly being coming out at a trickle. We will know more next July or so when European production starts.

So awesome that they also sponsored a cycling team to launch the vehicle.

I just don't see this low-production vehicle will come under 100k CAD. I've seen numbers like starting at 48K Euro, but I suspect it will be Porsche options and cost 100K CAD for a basic spec one. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They are really trying to brand it as a “working” vehicle so we will see. No doubt it’s going to be expensive, I think it will all come down to how base of a spec are they going to ship overseas. I imagine you can get it way more barebones in the UK.
Keep in mind the thing doesn’t even come with carpets as a base spec hahaha

The cycling team was formerly known as Team Sky that became Team Ineos then soon, eventually changing their name to that vehicle's to promote it. When they changed their name, the prototypes of the vehicle (one or two of them) were almost always present on big events like the Grand Tours. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I am digging this one. The interior looks like an airplane cockpit lol. I believe it starts at £48,000.
Watch the cat for different holiday hats!
I don't know how they get away with building the exterior to look exactly like a defender. Because it's off patent or something?
Tap, Rack, BANG!
They won a few court cases over it, ineos even tried to buy the tooling for the original lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

For anyone who is curious. Sounds like specs and pricing will be firmed up in May, NA orders wont arrive until 2023.
I’m personally expecting May-June 2023. At the earliest.

I'm holding out for the Union Carbide Caber or the Dow Chemical Laurentian.
You laugh but I am more excited about this car than anything any real car company is making right now.

Who's the dealer for INEOS @killramos ?
Hasn’t been formally decided but considering the entire drivetrain is BMW that’s where I would put my money.

Looks likes this is getting pretty real, they are bringing a prototype to Calgary for a show and tell on the 8th of June.
Got my booking to see it, not sure if you need to be on the waitlist or not for a viewing.

Got to spend some time with a prototype Grenadier this aft, really cool in person. Feels really big in person, I mean its a giant cube on wheels, but not unmanageable.
Trunk space is quite good and a real plus, the two part doors are super cool. Tire mount seems robust and clearly sized to accommodate alternate sized tires. They stuck the backup cam down low on the door under the tire mount which seems odd. Not convinced that is really the best place for it, G wagen up high on the roof makes way more sense to me.
apologies for the bad photos, lighting was pretty terrible and it was in a cramped studio. We were also not allowed to take photos of the undercarriage, I think the idea is that there is some bush engineering under there on the prototype that they don't want people misjudging.

Interior was well laid out and comfortable. not sure how the centre mounted cluster is going to be as a DD. They say it allows for better vision from the driver seat, but I am not convinced.
switch gear was super cool to see in person, gonna be a cool piece of kit. Recaro seats were comfortable and lots of space in the back as well ( if a bit upright for long journeys but WAY better than a wrangler)
Some additional info around timing and delivery. They are taking orders in the UK now targeting deliveries in Q3/Q4 this year. Canada US and Mexico delayed by essentially a full year from the rest of the world, probably looking like a 2024 MY. They submitted them for certification in Canada and the US in December which they quoted as a 50 week process. Goal is to be able to finalize NA specs and pricing in December-Feb. Likely start converting reservations to orders in Q1 2023 with delivery in that Q3/Q4 2023 timeframe.
How they are approaching deliveries is Kindof disappointing, they are basically negotiating with some major dealership groups now to distribute across Canada and the US. Key is dealer groups, meaning Autocanada, Dilawri, that sort of thing. They are not going to carpet partner with a mark network. So in some cities they might be available at a BMW dealer, others a Honda dealer, just depends who the contract ultimately goes to.
I leaned pretty hard on them about what plans they had around forbidding market price adjustments on the launch models which will be in high demand relative to supply. Disappointingly they didn't have anything concrete here. The dealer group ultimately owns the allocations so I am pretty skeptical about these being delivered for MSRP next year. When I asked point blank if Ineos would guarantee me a price when I convert my reservation to a firm order they literally said no. Shame.
They are hoping to have a fleet of drivable cars later in September or so so look forward to that!

I'm clearly not the target market for this, but it's a 1990's Toyota land cruiser? But limited production and very expensive?
