AST-1 complete, and got out to see turning man in salmo (no Travis Rice showing up to win this year sadly). Conditions were light, of course it dumped 20+cm the day I left but that’s life. I hear sunshine has somewhat reloaded so fingers crossed it will be rideable next weekend. So far 37 days in, still cranking through.

Season check in, 53 days strapped in so far, third round out at Nelson and started with an amazing powder day, and some great groomer days. Loving my Korua pencil out here, I highly recommend trying out a Korua board if you have a chance. While here I stopped in at baldface HQ for some stickers and got a picture of my board with their sign. Currently I’m wait listed for next year and really need to get more back country days in early next season. I also slapped tribute boardshop and whitewater stickers on the element to try and dissuade any potential attitude towards the alberta plate lol.

Where do people normally take the kids for the first lessons? COP? Nakiska?
Nakiska is great for a first/introductory lesson. They offer them in a 2hr block so they can try it without having to commit a full day. I took my daughter there one year to try snowboarding and she hated it. Tried skiing the year after and she loved it.
After that, my daughter has liked the lessons she gets at Sunshine best, followed by Nakiska. From my perspective, either of those two hills are great. She's progressed most after her lessons there. Panorama was glorified babysitting and Louise wasn't great. I don't have any experience with the COP lessons.
COP never heard of it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
WinSport.
COP is a great way to get your kid to hate skiing I think. I’d take them to Nakiska or elsewhere into the mountains where they get a taste of what it’s really all about and not just the sport. just my 2 cents.
Amazing finboy !
You’re dedication and passion towards this, awesome stuff dude

Cheers dude, tomorrow is likely my last day with the dregs at sunshine, 60 days this year and didn’t quite make my goal because it was a craaaap winter for snow. Still had a lot of fun, and a lot of great opportunities. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Next year I need more snowboarder friends, all my friends had kids and bailed consistently this year.
60 days on hill this year, it’s been a memorable one in spite of the crap winter. Looking forward to what next year has to offer, now I have to get all my gear into storage.

Got a trampoline board to get ready for the season, it was ugly so I made a new livery on it to match the new dog McRae
Also chalking this up as a nice achievement

Well done on the dedication to this sport! Ive been doing this on and off for maybe 20 years and you're probably better than me after only a year or 2 lol You got into this last year or the year before right?

Well almost 2 years to the day I hit days 100 strapped in yesterday at sunshine.
Learning curve is still real, but it’s been a blast and if the weather ever figures itself out, hoping for many more days this year.
Also I have a problem buying gear…

Saturday I caught the half pipe comp at COP and got to meet Valentino Guseli who won the whole shebang, nice guy. Glide Factory is hosting carve club through winter, it’s been great riding with a crew. Because the competition was over, the super pipe (all 22 icy feet of it) is now open to public, so naturally carve club had to check it out.
I will say, equal parts terrifying and fun, first couple laps I was nowhere near the coping and sliding to my ass, but could get 2/3rd’s up the wall and make it down in one piece by the end of the night. It definitely gives me an appreciation for anyone who can throw themselves 20 feet out of the pipe when I was maybe making it 12-15 feet up the wall.
If you are interested in carve club, follow them here, usually out 1-2 times every week, I’d put average age at late 30’s.

26 days in so far this year, less than I’d like but it’s been a crap winter. Revelstoke and another Nelson trip next month, hopefully I finally get some powder days. I haven’t had my splitboard out once, I hear it isn’t great unless you go past lake Louise, and even then it is dicey.

I'm on 8 days in the split since mid december. Low tide for sure, but have also had some very good skiing (half those days in Kananaskis) Very dependent on how soon you get to ski after the snow (shocker). Had a wicked day in Rogers before the heatThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I haven't been on here in a little bit but this was the first thread I saw, and wanted to say I just did my 26th day this year too!!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I started Dec '21 (mostly Jan '22) similarly, I remembered this thread had motivated me..
Carve Club looks like a rad time!! Super pipe looks way over my head - haha.. I'm not a very good switch rider, but the biggest thing I enjoy is just satisfying turns and riding edge to edge. Even two years later I feel so beginner though. I just did my day 26 (at COP) last night but I've been a few times to sunshine and lake louise. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Dude you should come out to carve club, chill group and no pressure to do anything crazy. I am loving getting to ride with more snowboarders and because they are more skilled I get to push through plateaus and ask stupid questions about how they ride the way they do.
