    Default The Lesbaru

2002 Impreza Outback Sport. The official car of Banff.

Picked this car up 2 months ago with a skipped timing belt, shop told the owner the engine was toast. I got the car cheap and re timed it, started and ran perfect.

What you are looking at here is 2.5 litres of peak automotive performance.

Plan for this one is a budget turbo build with a little ebay T3/T4

Gonna be a slow start to this build since I'm doing the Mustang turbo first, but might pick up momentum on this one around June or July.

Very nice, what a lazy shop. Quick camera inspection and turning by hand would have told them pretty quick it was fine wouldn’t it???

Oh well your gain! Look forward to seeing the progression. Motivates me to finish my mustang haha

Dibs when you sell it in the spring
A Ferrari is a high maintenance chick, you spend money regardless of what you do with her. You can baby the C63, or slap on all seasons, and you won't be spending anything but yearly maintenance. Of course that's like dating a stripper and refusing to fuck her, which would make you gay.

Yeah it was kinda that, and also kinda the guy didn't want to pay for more diag. People give up on good cars too easily.

Been having fun this winter. Was messing around on Ghost last week with some buddies, ended up having a 5 way drag race and doing kinda OK vs two turbo subarus and two trucks all making twice as much power.

That's awesome, how were conditions out on the lake? We were thinking of going out there this weekend and pulling toboggans around behind the Jeep.

I was back this weekend and it was perfect. Weekend before with Sentry we were towing our hood sled which was great too.

We used a hood as kids growing up to toboggan down a favorite hill.

    That thing was scary haha.

Hey I did a thing on this thing. Grabbed some STI suspension for 100 bucks off a dude switching to coilovers.

Dropped it about 2-2.5", handles way better.

Picked up some cheap wheels. Should be able to break even selling the stock ones.

Slowly beginning the transformation from a stock clapped-out shitbox to a modified clapped-out shitbox.

    Can't wait to turbo it.

EDIT: Bonus footage, launching on the new tires. Hooks hard then totally gutless lol. Needs boost.

Turbo's here. Probably gonna stick it somewhere in this region so I can drain oil into the valve cover. Also probably gonna delete ABS, who needs that shit.

Well...it has been 1/2 an hour, so I’m expecting the turbo should be installed and tuned...after launch vids now dammit!!!

Made some room for activities, ABS gone.

Also got some more parts, ebay header Im gonna build the turbo setup off of, and my favourite cheap quiet muffler, a dynomax superturbo. It should sound reasonable having just this and being otherwise straightpiped.

Are you concerned about draining oil into the valve cover at all? I don't know much about Subaru valve train but I would be worried about aerated, semi burned up oil from the turbo getting into the valve train. What would stop you from running a drain to the oil pan? that is the same general position you picked as most Subaru turbos so you should be able to route a line down, even if you have to drill and install a bulk head into the pan. Would you get better drainage from the turbo into the valve cover due to the PCV system pulling directly from the valve cover (i.e. more vacuum in the heads than the crank case)?
