CP/CN is going to go in and drop about 90000 tons of riprap on both sides, have a geotech check it out and then giver.

I'm supposed to driving to squamish on December 3 to grab my camper sooo hopefully there is at least a route by then.

Im sure the BC civil engineers are drowning in saliva currently

    This Sumas Lake thing...
Wondering if there will be an Indigenous uproar and BC will actually not rebuild in that Chilliwack/Abbotsford area and leave it as a lake??

Would be messed up but if anywhere, it'll be in BC.

If we evenly distribute the weight and go super fast with a train we should be good 42/100 times.

Lmao. You can have your lake back, but it'll be completely contaminated and you can't eat any of the wildlife that uses it.

    Lol not a chance.

    Will they complain? Probably.
Will they use this situation to leverage a payout for pain and suffering and losing their traditional hunting grounds? Probably.

I feel like the highway will be open in a week or two. It won’t be paved but I’d presume they’ll scramble to rip it up and backfill with a shitload of gravel and pack it to get a temporary road up and running. Then they’ll plan proper repairs. Pretty sure even the military has resources to erect emergency bridges in a couple days.

Sumas lake on the other hand … gonna be interesting. Kind of funny how BC shits on us destroying the environment while they drained an entire lake to make town and agriculture space.

Don't see why it won't be paved, laying down asphalt is really easy. The road won't last more than a couple of months at best and it'll be bumpy in about about 2 days due to improper subsurface prep but that's okay.

I feel like this November BC Flood discussion deserves its own split off thread.

I’m thinking of creating a climate change sub forum. That’s all I’ve been hearing about.

Intact did send me notice that they won't offer flood insurance for my policy any longer due to climate change and weather increasing in severity, apparently Lake Chapparal is a high flood risk?

    Panic buying has begun.

Line ups at Costco, people stocking up on toilet paper again lol.

Through the Okanagan, grocery store shelves are empty.

I have heard this too in the Abbotsford area, no food or supplies on shelves.
