I mean it isn't like they are near a international shipping port or anything, lol. We'll be affected a lot more than those dolts.

Yea the Coq is way worse than Hwy 1.

So what’s the likely outcome here?

Some patchwork of highway 1, 5, and 97 to get things moving?

Maybe a bit of 3 as well?
MoTI is prioritizing Hwy 1 right now, from what I hear.

The last I heard was 7 is opening tonight to bypass 1 between abbotsford and hope. From there the 3 is prioritized for essential traffic only probably by Monday.

1 north of hope is fucked. 5 is fucked. Not sure about 1 at abbotsford.

I’m only interested in this because I have a lunch bet riding on what opens by Wednesday.

I mean, why not when the government is more than willing to pay you out whatever the insurance companies won't.

Low lying land is popular worldwide.

Fuck, most of the entire lower mainland is flood plain. If the pumps ever stop working, Richmond will be like New Orleans was. When I lived in Ladner in an old house, when you dug down in the back yard just a foot or two, you would get water seeping in when the tide was high! New building codes I think demanded a 3 foot build up but old homes was not as such.

Yeah as I understand it they are opening what they feasibly can of the 1 and will bypass if needed. Major repairs are targeting the 1 first and then the 5/7 etc., but will likely prioritize whatever moves the most traffic volume.

Everything I have read and heard so far seems to indicate that they have about 3 days worth of reserves and with all the pipelines being shut in they are completely fucked after that until inspections can be done and they can fire back up safely. That likely won't be for a few weeks. I for one have zero problem with letting them freeze. They can burn their money a-la carbon tax for warmth.

What’s in everyone’s panic buy shopping list?

I saw cheese and toilet paper.

    What else??
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."
