Default Garage Roof crawl space frosty

Unsure what to call that area above my garage - theres a trap door there to the garage attic/crawl space - I store my xmas tree up there because there isnt a good place to put it. Anyway I opened it up yesterday and there was a bunch of melted frost I guess on the other side of the trap door. The xmas tree wasnt damp or wet but I could see my breath up there and I noticed all the nails from the roof that perforated the wood all had frost covering them. Is this how everyones crawl space is in winter?

I didnt see any mold up there. I havent checked my attic crawl space to see if the same thing occurs.

Some is ok. A lot is bad.
I'm guessing if you can still see the nails, it's not like there's an inch of solid frost on the inside of the roof OSB, so you're fine.

You should try this free ATCO service. You can do a free video call with a home inspector for them to have a look at it.

Can be a sign of poor ventilation in attic. In our house they had covered soffits at edge with insulation and that part is needed for air circ along with your vents. A little is normal a lot is not. Also if you have bathroom vents not hooked up just going into attic with older homes can be issue to or heavy humidity in your home from not using vents for bathrooms or when cooking or have set high humidity on your furnace and going into attic
