Default Float Valve - Boiler Piping

Anyone ever dealt with these? Watts FV4 to be exact. Just replaced them cause they were both passing liquid (suction and discharge) and the one on the suction is still doing it. I’m thinking the way it’s piped in isn’t letting the air and fluid seperate enough, any plumbers have any insight on this? Or any regular DIY guys ever felt with them?

Did you unscrew the black knob a few turns?

ya they were open on the old ones and i opened them on this one too.. the liquid should come up and shut the float though. i think the dinky nipple and Tee aren't letting it work right or something. the other side comes right off the reducing tee then valve and it seems to not be letting as much liquid pass but still a tiny bit.

I've got one of these on my hydronic setup but don't have the issues that you talk about. I did however just read the manual and you should have a fitting 2.5x the pipe diameter in order to vent air properly. Your suspicions about the fittings being too small seems to be pretty accurate. Prob same sheet you get with the unit but look at the install instructions.
