    Thumbs down Filipino Scam

Has anyone got approached by Filipino women infront of an Asian store or at an Asian store parking lot asking for donations for some charity? They would be holding some booklet that has picture of some piss poor children.

This is the second time this has happened...this time is right by Lucky supermarket.

I was minding my own business opening my trunk while my SO was at a bakery getting some goodies. I went into my seat and this woman came up to me. I said no...are you trying to scam me? she goes no. I'm like yes you are..this is all over the internet. it's a Filipino scam.

That's when she got defensive and said why are you talking bad about Filipinos. I'm like wtf...I didn't say I hate Filipinos...I say this is a Filipino scam. Then she threatened to call the cops, went behind my car and took a picture of my plate. I just told her go ahead...you were the one that harass me when I said go away. In the mean time, my SO came out from the store and started videoing her.

Anyways she walked off..and said hopefully something happened to me on the road. I told her that you would be the one run over cuz u r scamming ppl

    god..that's my rant for today

I dunno if it's a scam, but they sure in the hell are fucking annoying. I just assumed it was one of those sponsor a kid/family things but I never stopped to look at it.

I've been approached on the street, at the mall (at food courts and by the door), at train stations, and in +15's.

Or they are a musical band, the four of them, one with a guitar, stroll into a restaurant and start playing. I generally stop them before they start and say: no thanks have a good day. Good bye.

If I'm gonna donate, I'm gonna donate to the kids here.

Use to happen to me a lot at the 3rd ST train station haha. Even worse since they can usually tell I'm Filipino. I usually just ignore them and keep walking along the train platform.

My dad calls them out on their bullshit whenever they approach him though haha they usually back off pretty fast when that happens

You gotta pretend like they don't exist like the old ladies pushing the dim sum carts or they won't stop pestering you and next thing you know you're eating chicken feet.

When I was a sobeys months ago I ran into one of these girls. I told this one girl I wasn't from here - she asked me where I was from. I told her I was from Louisiana lol (all while doing this in an accent) she asked me for money and I told her how about she donated some money to me instead. I told her my whole family lost our place it floated away in Katrina. I asked her if the people she was collecting money for had their house float away. She said no - I told her well I guess my "family" needed the money more than her. She proceeded to tell me if I did a good thing then something good would happen back to me. At this point I couldn't take it anymore and told her she doesn't look like a registered charity. She still wouldn't back down. I just got into my car and closed the door and waved bye.

It's a scam. They do it at the Suncor building as well.

It's a scam because they mention CRA coding in their booklets but cant/don't issue receipts.

I've gotten the racist guilt trip speech too. I shame them in Tagalog.

The look in their faces are priceless lol.

Huh, that's weird because sometime during x-mas I opened the door and these 4 filipino ladies just starting "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."

I didn't even have time to react

    Roughly translated,

"You people. You're the reason why white people are mad at us (and looks us down)."

Then you point and make random noises, similar to shaming a dog.

The noise is a Filipino thing.

Real charities don't guilt trip you. That's the most obvious sign it's a scam.
