    Governments will subsidize it, guaranteed.

Spain's government has been subsidizing fuel by 20 cents/L. France's discount is 15c/L. I shouldn't call it a subsidy since they're really just reducing the amount of tax they're charging but that's how politicians want it to be perceived and how most of the socialist voters will perceive it.

I'm happy AF I bought a diesel despite Spain doing everything they can to push people into electrics/EVs.
So, is it better for a politician to go the European route "Decrease fossil fuel consumption! *Subsidizes burning of fossil fuels*"

Or is it better to go the JT way "Decrease fossil fuel consumption! *Hops on jets all over the country while he tells people freezing to death in the winter and not being able to drive your car to work is the sacrifices we must make on the climate change alter*

Normally, this kind of shit would cause massive outrage, but Canadians are dumb so instead they are ok with Trudeau telling them how it will be?

    Fuck this country.

Canada is warming up pretty quickly because of GW. Too much natgas in the west. Reduced consumption will happen naturally.

    Not that its a problem.

Well, just to say. Its pretty obvious the island nations like Sri Lanka and the UK are going to be hit hardest.

Shipping in energy by boat is pretty absolute desperate "OMG we a fooked" if you ask me. Japan had the same problem, right before they bombed Hawaii.

He does have a solid point though, if we really want to reduce carbon - the jet engine should be on the chopping block more than any combustion car engine.

And as much as it might hurt NASA, no moon missions with a ban on rocketry for ego missions.

If a few thousand Germans and UK citizens freeze to death as a definable cause this winter, the backlash against overconsumers like Buzz - might be real.

Now why would you throw away a completely reasonable post by throwing NASA under the bus with your foolishness? You know full well that SLS launches on a combination of Liquid Oxygen & Hydrogen & Perchlorate boosters, making their operation ZERO CARBON.

Thing is: Just like creating electricity, creating hydrogen fuel takes carbon fuels to produce in the USA. Nice try.

In most cases, hydrogen fuel is dirtier than electricity because its a two step process, carbon to electricity to hydrogen.

Electric Scooter along ground: 18 watts per mile (Or in Calgary 12 cents per 100 miles) NASA rocket? About 1 million pounds fuel (however many billions, near trillions of watts) to go 250 miles up.

If your UK or German grandma and grandkid both freeze, yeah - Buzz's time is over. People can stand a lot to keep a dream alive, but keeping alive is always more important. And the bigger problem would be Germany invading the USA for rocket fuel (Don't laugh, Japan did it to Hawaii) Germany electricity futures at 1 Euro per kwh would definitely be in my zone for "someone is going to start a war, or continue growing a war to keep from freezing"

Propulsion rocketry is stupidly inefficient. Less than 0.5% efficient even today. Theoretical Quantum propulsion? 90+% or so. Which arguably means the second that it is figured out, all of NASA's rocketry research over the last 50 years will be obsolete.

Quantum computing being at least a billion times faster per watt than silicon.

I will tell you what is wrong with the pipeline. They turned the tap clockwise instead of counter clockwise. Will take repair crew at least half a year to fix.

Have you guys noticed that Europe is in an energy crisis, but we are currently paying more for electricity?

EU to claw back energy firms' profits rather than cap Russian gas price
BRUSSELS — European Union energy ministers on Friday tasked Brussels with drafting proposals within a few days to cap the revenues of non-gas energy producers and help power firms stay afloat.
But as they sought to protect citizens from soaring energy prices that have driven inflation across the continent to record highs, the ministers backed away from more divisive proposals to cap Russian gas prices.
At an emergency meeting in Brussels, the ministers instead asked the European Commission to propose broader gas price caps, even as the EU executive itself swiftly poured cold water on the feasibility of such an idea.
    Yeah, what could go wrong?
