Yeah they’re totally different. A developer in tech makes way more than one in IT.

North America isn't watching European energy problems.
Canada plans to out do them.

If Lake mead hits 1050 feet this summer, 12 of 17 energy turbines off Hoover Dam will have to be shut down.

Could be one heck of a hot sweaty summer without Airconditioning. If Canada is willing to live with 28 Celsius ambient room temperature, we could probably sell the excess to the USA for a kings ransom.

Bezos could very well be the smartest man alive for building that 400 MW solar installation. If you build it in the USA, they could always just claim "national interest" and confiscate the energy.

I lived in Phoenix for a short time and when you are acclimatized to 40°c outside, 27° feels cold. That’s around where I had my a/c set to down there and it was instant sweat pants and hoodie while inside. The malls were kept down at ~22° and it drove me crazy. Humans can adapt to any living condition.

It doesn't take long to acclimatise either. I was on a 3 week training course in Houston during the summer. 105 during the day, had the AC in my hotel set to 65 and about 4 days later that was too cold for me, so it went up to about 72

Yeah, I hated going to Jacksonville and Memphis for work. Everywhere indoors was fucking freeeezing. Then the Americans would be saying the same shit "Oh, I bet this is too hot of weather for you!" No. This is beautiful weather outside. I have to wear a fucking hoodie indoors though.

My parents shivered when I turned the AC in their house to 72. They kept it at 78f.

    That's only in Summer.

In Winter they'll happily crank the heating up (at least that's how it was in Texas).

Natural Gas supply in Europe is fucked. Not going to be able to refill storage before winter.

Russia is going to have a really strong hand to play when it comes time to negotiate for how much of Ukraine they get to keep.

Interesting issue in that article. Turbines were shipped by Siemens from Russia to Canada to be overhauled but now Canada is blocking the return of the turbines because of sanctions against Russia.

So climate crisis is over? Let's burn whatever we can get our hands on and see who can survive the weather best?

It's not that they won't but will buy/afford less of it. Ruble is now worth more against Euro than 5 year past and could hit pre-Crimea invasion.
    https://www.reuters.com/markets/euro...wn-2022-06-14/

Also China and India with 40% of world's population are buying everything Russia can produced at discount rate.

That said, buddy got a 25k LPG vessels/year order from EU for multiple years and somehow it's mandated to be made in AB. So sounds like EU is going hardcore on building up storage capacity. Still don't know what they are filling them with tho.

EU is buying all the Russian gas they can. Russia just not sending as much as before.
