Get Ukraine MIGs, Reaper drones, long-range missiles, and more armoured vehicles.
Yep, Ukraine has shown they have the will. We need to do nothing but arm them. Not a single foot on the ground by western countries is required.

Ukraine needs to then stop at their borders once the Russians are repelled and fortifying their borders in the same manner can be done.

It will cost lots of money, but I personally think its worth it. This is a cut and dry example of something I am supportive of having my taxes go towards (instead of being donated to corrupt dictatorships like on the middle east et al).

Yea, NATO could enforce a no-fly zone as well.

For once I agree with littledan.

Its their fight. Russia is just salivating at the thought of finding western countries fighting in any way alongside them.

Haven't heard about any europeans/americans being captured as POW's, they'll be used to justify things if they do have some which is bad enough as it is.

Not drilling, but there's also this if you've never seen a drilling rig near town. This was last year.

This project was pretty cool. I got to be a little bit involved in the initial overview of it then spent a really boring night shift reading all the legal documents about what was going on. The AER is completely ignoring case law on who is responsible for old wells (the last operator - in this case the City of Medicine Hat) and instead went after the original operator of it from 1932 - Canadian Pacific, all because of a presentation that looked like it was made by a new grad effectively saying "we think this well is leaking gas and its CP's fault so you should make them fix it". Cenovus got dragged into it too because CP rail spun off their O&G into PanCanadian (I think) which then became Encana and then Cenovus. Its absolutely wild and really makes the City of Medicine Hat and the AER look like a bunch of idiots. I think the next hearing is in November for it and I can't wait for CP and Cenovus to take them to the cleaners.

They had to jack out the casing for this well which is why they used the drilling rig instead of a service rig. The original plan was to replace the full well worth of casing, then do a series of cement retainer squeezes but I am not sure how the actual re-abandonment went down outside of the casing jacking.

Edit. There are about 5 -6 wells within a 1 km radius of this one.

It's Ukrainian territory - Russia had no viable argument against a No-Fly Zone but sadly with these sham elections now maybe they do.

Regarding volunteers, a pro-Russian court in East Ukraine gave a death sentence to 2 Brits and a Moroccan at the start of the war - probably more stories like that now. Russia said all along they wouldn't treat them in accordance with the Geneva Convention since they're not "soldiers".

Their war crimes deserve a Western Response. The threat of nukes can't override all international security and norms...

So Putin makes the rules now?

We should all just roll over whenever Russia, Pakistan, India, or China want to invade a country because they have nukes?

Yes, he who has the most power makes the rules, that is tylically how it works.

We have a senile old man as POTUS, versus a psychopath at the head of a decaying (but relatively strong) country with nukes.

Putin has played his cards pretty well. You think they are going to attack Russia over infrastructure damage or put boots on the ground in Ukraine? That's the straw that breaks the camels back?

Give your head a shake. Only way NATO is putting boots on the ground/planes in the air is if Russia directly attacks them.

Russia is basically applying Afghani warfare on an international level. And it will work. We need to make sure Ukraine can out Afghanistan the Russians, and that's all we can do.

    Edit-
Just found out that GAZPROM is the majority owner of Nord Stream 1/2. Nobody is going to war over shit when Russia is destroying its own infrastructure of a state owned company. LOL.

so once the line is empty of gas, it basically fills with sea water and then is abandoned forever? Remote welding, clean out and inspection?

Just as a round number. Say Germany is at $200 billion and UK at $165 Billion to halve the pain on the citizenry for high priced energy, say maybe another $600 billion for the rest of the eurozone should they do the same.

Its roughly $2 Trillion that NATO (minus the USA) will be paying extra to keep warm this winter. If its even possible, as you can't buy what does not exist.

    What a friendly union.
