2nd Floor Toilet When Flushed, Sink/Shower Gurgles

2 story house.

Past week or 2 can't remember, but when I flush the 2nd floor main bedroom toilet, the toilet sounds like its back-firing, gasping for air, gurgling and gurgling sounds are coming from the sink pipes and shower pipes. This has happened a couple times in previous years in winter as well but its always resolved itself after a few days. I think previous answers were a dry trap but that wasnt the case

I've narrrowed it down to a frozen roof vent stack since we had alot of snow last week and the -30 temps.

Any remedy for this that doesnt involve me going up on my roof to clear?? Is there a cover or insulation to add to the inner pipe to prevent this?

I was thinking the same. Roof vent.
Only guess is running hot water but I don't think that would overtake the buildup on the roof.

I don't think there's any real damage that can happen. Correct me if I am wrong.

I'm no expert, but I'm with you.
This is a significantly suboptimal situation where I'm confident your stack is plugged with snow or perhaps spruce needles or some other bullshit. But with it only happening in cold weather, you know it's snow.

Don't worry for now, but in summer, get someone up there and install a gooseneck or twist the intake away from the prevailing wind such that it can still suck in the worst weather. Got a friend with a drone? That's what you need for now! Assess where the blockage is and what angle it needs to be twisted to in order to prevent future issues. Then, relax and deal with it in 6 months.

Do you know how a plumbing stack works or the principles behind it? You can look that up, or I can crudely and partially incorrectly explain it, if that helps.

roof vent partially blocked. Don't worry, and certainly don't climb on your roof today to check it out, you'll slide right off. Should clear up once it's around zero for a few days.

Stack vent.
Give it a few days to clear on its own. It's not going to cause any damage.

-4 by this Saturday. 30 degree difference. That should do it.

I keep thinking my pipes are gonna back up and I'll have to sift through shit lol

Does the shower rarely get used? We had the same thing going on and a plumber buddy told me if that shower is almost never used, the P trap in the drain may have evaporated and it creates some weird draw. He said to run the shower for a couple minutes and see if it goes away and sure enough, it did.

Might be worth a try.
