My had snow tires from driving out there from Calgary for school. He was the DK of Cordova Bay.
So, every mid February he was the Kenny Blankenship of Blenkinsop? He put the Doug in Mt. Doug Park?

Fuck that 30-zone they hide in there, btw...

Bit of Arbour lake, bit of Stoney, bit of crowfoot, back and forth to Bearspaw and perf winters was great. Have the van out now and don’t think studs was a significant advantage today.

Must be a BMW. Don't need the rear window to shoulder check anyways.

They need an electronic registration that clears your vehicle for winter use every Nov.1
They could pair in up with an expensive, long wait time emissions test at the same time. Double win.

They do. Extremely rare that anyone uses them.

The lady behind me was very mad that I braked so that the semi wouldn't turn me into road smear.

How long do studded tires last for vs typical winter tires? Would be really useful for the handle of storms every winter but I imagine its an annoyance at other times so it only makes sense on a 2nd non daily vehicle?

I’d argue studded tires last as long or longer but the studs themselves degrade over time.

The Hakkas I’ve used have outlasted how long I keep cars (3.5 years). I posted about worn Hakkas a page or 2 back and how much grip those worn studs gave me on ice.

They’ve all been on our daily vehicles, and we leave em on till early June. Lots of warm dry weather on them.

Because they like to gamble with their lives, if you don't get studded you will die lol Joking aside, if you're just driving in Calgary studded is overkill. I haven't had any experience with mine on dry roads yet but i did go into the new horizon parkade last week for that haunted house and the sound from them aint nice that's for sure. Price wise i think they're fairly close, i was going to get blizzaks again but went nokian and that was about 300 more, i would think nokian studded vs not are really close cost wise.

FYI that new horizon mall has a nice heated parkade with high entrances so if anyone needs place to do some minor work to your truck that would be good place lol

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

    Weight equals massive advantage.
