98% of the people driving on Calgary roads are idiots.

They should have way more strict driving schools and mandatory classes, similar to Germany.

    It’s a joke out there

I'm actually curious how many days studded tires are really useful in Calgary. So I'm going to start keeping track of the days.

I'll update this every day I feel studded tires are worth it.
If varies a ton year to year though so you need to do this as a lifelong pursuit I think!

That would be pointless as it's every day.
How about ground clearance and 4x4?

There is a lot of crossover between people who fill up at costco and all season tire drivers

I'm comparing 2 cars really. Sienna with Hakka 13s or whatever last years were, and E53 with Michelin PA5's which are the bottom end of performance for actual winter use. So yea, the van needs to beat the convertible considerably to count as a day.

Today is easily one. I had a hard time stopping at a few really bad places in the E53. Didn't even engage ABS in the Sienna.
Today and tomorrow for sure. I was pretty antsy to get out today to try the studs and they're amazing so far. I still cant believe how lucky i got with booking my changeover for yesterday, i booked it maybe 2 weeks ago.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

If you drive to the mountains a lot in blizzards the studs come in handy very often. But the city is different of course

A couple all-seasoners made it through the madness and were still waiting in line to use the ‘left hand’ pumps instead of the open pumps… you know, the ones with extenders…

I drove past this impressive pile up on a very small hill. They put up road closed barriers which seemed excessive.

Or its slippery enough. Keep pushing the jack knife it'll straighten with the tires sliding.

Roads weren’t bad. Easy to get around; people are just so slow so I just calmly overtake at the speed limit

My commute took longer today than yesterday, seems like all the people with zero confidence who were too scared to drive yesterday are out today.

Stoney Trail SW was a skating rink of disaster.
