I made it in today on summer tires.
They are technically* all-seasons, but one of the weird ones that are Traction AA and Temp A which I'm more used to seeing on R-compound tires.

They were certainly not very good, at all, but not reckless. Absolute night & day from my Blizzaks (which will go on this weekend).

Getting my new winters put on this evening. Was out yesterday with my Michelin Pilot Sport AS3's and was sliding around, but not uncontrollably.

Those tires are so good at doing everything. By far the best performance all season, given they're quite good in the summer and not utterly useless with some snow on the ground.

I worked from home yesterday. I drove to Physio this morning on my summers. Roads were fine.

There are 2 types of people on Beyond:

    1. You need AWD and studded winters or you'll die.
    2. I drove around on summer tires and it was fine.

The thing people don't seem to think of, is every neighbourhood and commute is different.

Don't think anyone from #1 thinks you'll die, we've all been #2 at some point. I went years driving my 944 in winter on summers. The #1 crew just wants the #2 crew to GTFO off the way cuz you're slowing us down. We just wants to drive at normal speeds in the worst of days.

Watched a guy in his Subaru do a complete 720 on Hwy 2 north while ripping past everyone.

I laughed while continuing to drive safely at 80km/hr like everyone else.

It was a complete sheet of ice.

People who do that are more of a hazard than people speeding. And I love seeing them get pulled over and ticketed for that.

This 100%. I left the NW and was thinking the roads were way better than expected. Went down deerfoot and was pleasantly surprised traffic was minimal and it was pretty much clear on the road. Headed to the hood in forest lawn for a part and went back down 17 and when i got into the turning lane for the deerfoot off ramp heading north it was all good until near the bottom, it looked pretty icy so i touch the brakes and low and behold i start sliding, thankfully i had studs or else i wouldve for sure 110% died. BS aside the studs saved me from curbing the wheels at a minimum.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want them on the whole winter on my DD either. It ruins the other 100 so days of driving if you want to drive like a dick.

That was my big debate too, With the chinooks and the plowing our roads are pretty fucking nice in the winter so i was always on the studs overkill boat but i figured i might as well try them since ive never ran them and with us having ski passes i figured the sacrifice for city was worth it. The studs for sure saved my front rims this morning so that alone was worth it.

2022-23 Winter Season Studded Tires Advantage so far: 2
    Days Details: Nov 2-3
Still icy enough today in residential areas, especially downhill braking zones, where studs are killing it. Everywhere else, people have covered up the ice with snow from their driveway/walks, so it's the same performance on both cars. The van is still rocketing away from lights faster because of ice.

Barely giving it a day today tho. With the sun out, expect tomorrow to be a performance winter day.
