Yeah I like the look of this car, as far as EVs go. Not as good as a Taycan, but miles better than a Model S or EQS.

If you aren't excited by what's being produced today, maybe you just aren't as into cars as you used to be. The 911 GT3 with a 9000RPM red line making 500hp naturally aspirated to the rear wheels wrapped in a beautiful skin; Corvette Z06 with the 670hp flatplane crank, again naturally aspirated and incredibly high revving (not so pretty though); The VAG offerings of Lambo and Audi R8 with n/a V10 rear drive; MacLaren 675LT... etc.. There is a long list of awesome cars being built right now. Being worried about the future and everything becoming electric shouldn't make you any less excited about the right now. I think youtubers have being pushing this narrative a bit too hard for a few years now, Chris Harris is especially guilty saying every car is the last of an era and we're going to miss this when it's gone... but he's been preaching this for years now and yet exciting ICE cars keep coming out and he keeps saying it.
The majority of people aren't going to be buying cars >$250,000.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I would need a significant amount of f*ck you money to entertain the idea.
Supercars are neat, but they don't get me as excited as they once did.
Cars in general for that matter... The older I get the less I care what I drive.
That's exactly what I'm saying, and it's ok to have your interests change as your life changes. Just be aware, it's not the cars that are changing that fast, it's us.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Seems to feel the same way. Again not sure if an age thing or COVID thing. The minute I'm not stuck in traffic 2hrs/day, I have a lot less care what I'm in.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
When every car is fast, supercars lost their shine a bit.
And EQXX points to where we are going. Cars will be all about styles and designs.
Also, need to understand how Lucid Air has only 20% more battery cells but yields 50% more range over a Model S plaid. And now Mercedes EQXX say it can do 1000km. What's this black magic?

I think it's both. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Cars have seen a focus on fuel economy, pedestrian safety (lol), passenger safety, and technology. In other words, they've gotten fat.
The GT3 you mentioned is cool, but it's also huge nowadays. They're the size of a corvette.
Here's a one for you then. Smaller, mid engined, GT3 engine, RWD, 2 seats, intake next to your ear.
ya, those looks really good. Can't buy em tho. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I know! I watched Doug Demuro's review of it and almost coughed at the price. I can appreciate the market they are going after, but I'm not sure how successful they will be if they expect rich people to pay so much for a new, unproven brand. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I guess the same could have been said about Tesla several years back - although at least they tried to keep the pricing somewhat realistic for more of the masses...
The "new unproven brand" thing doesn't matter much any more. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You need a skateboard chassis with a battery and some electric motors. I don't think this is quite off-the-shelf yet, but it will be soon. You need some software engineers. You need coachbuilding, which is basically all done by subcontractors nowadays anyway. You need some chassis engineers.
Difficult to source, yes. But my point is that they are still making REALLY exciting cars even when beyonders aren't that excited about cars anymore. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think youtube might be partially responsible for ruining car excitement for me.
I'll watch a couple of the youtube reviews of the GT4RS, and then be like "cool" and forget about it.
Cars should be emotional. The sounds. The speeds. The mystique and allure. I think youtube has turned it into a weird insta-star thing with a side order of low subscriber "youtubers". It might not have taken away the physical fun of it...but the electric cars took away the relevance of speed. And social media took away the mystique and allure.
I agree with all of this. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I like neat cars.
Not for something comparable to the Lucid - a Model S P100D was like 230k CAD not that many years ago. The difference is Lucid doesn't offer a stripper model like Tesla did. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Base Model Lucid starts at like 80k USD. So more like Escort moneyThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I love my Tesla M3, but all I wish for is an AWD 88' CRX or an ef sedan with a k20 and ITB's, None of these new cars really excite me anymore.
Also after seeing the review and the windshield in this. Fuck this car. What's replacement cost on one of those, 10k?
