I'd recommend you give yourself some schedule wiggle room for the electrical inspection, in case they want you to fix anything and re-inspect.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Does anyone know a good place that's non-box store to buy wire shelving? I know sometimes they're not the cheapest option available.
Simple Spaces did our house, we plan on using them again for some smaller work in the basement. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
And someone told me that Simple Spaces is simply re-branded Rubbermaid that you can somehow acquire in your own. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yes, I'm certainly not saying "you got scammed" because I have their stuff, as well. I think it's perfectly good. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Man this has been crazy bad lately. We've been trying to get hold of 3 or 4 people for a fence quote and either no one gets back to us, or we will get one message saying they'll get back to us, and still hasn't in 2 weeks. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That's just the fence guys, literally anyone I try to get hold of is doing this.

The City of Calgary has a pretty great electrical guide on their website. If you haven't already printed it off I recommend it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I just finished my development. Added up all my bills and ended up right at 30k. Did own framing, electrical, most finishing. Subbed out plumbing (bathroom with steam shower), and drywall and tile/carpet. 850ish sq ft. Also included subfloor and spray foam insulation.
What type of subfloor did you put in? Do it yourself or hire contactor? Did you hire spray foam out? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My Karma ran over your Dogma
Just put in 3 solid days of basement work (harder work then my actual job). Passed framing and plumbing inspections on Friday and have electrical inspection Wednesday.
We're also going to be bang on for $30k. Did electrical ourselves, everything else sub'd out.
I've got mud and tapers starting tomorrow. All the quotes put it at $3-4K for the 860sqft (floor space) with about 60% of that being 9ft ceiling. Depending on counter tops for the bar and if we hire out painting or not we will be in the 23-28k window all said and done.
I did framing, electrical, plumbing, ceiling insulation and hanging the drywall myself. I will do tile and all finishing work but hire out mud/tap, possibly paint, and carpet.

Has anyone used a general contractor that they are enamored with? So far we haven't found anyone we love (not for a basement finishing job but our project isn't far off).

Not even a paragraph on nipple stimulation?
I used amvic amdry. The tiles are 4 x 2 so used less of them. Installed with buddies went really quick. Spray foam was also subbed out. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I did this. Almost the exact same scenario as you but i did the framing myself. Quoted $30-$35k and ended up spending just south of $20k. This was for a walk out basement with dry bar, premium carpet, tile vs lino. I even sourced the same hardware (faucets, lights ect) as the rest of the house which made it a tad more expensive. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
