The way Haas (new F1) operates is more closely to a American professional sports team . Since new entrant now requires an additional 200mill to be paid out to current teams. His team has increase in value significantly. It's like a shitty NFL/MLB/NBA that goes on sale, it doesn't matter if they have sucked in the last decades, they still get drug money upon a sale.
Alpine is claiming to have porpoising solved more or less.
Seems like the simple solution for immediate resolution is to do some sort of bump stop on the rear suspension to prevent it going low enough to stall the aero. I'm sure that isn't optimal for future performance, but would at least make the cars drivable till engineers figure out how to properly seal the floor.

Why not just put a post down that stop the car from bottoming out, I thought of the bump stop idea but like you said it’s probably not ideal
Bump stop won’t help. Hit the bump stop, car bounces off it, ride height increase, lose downforce, repeat. Same effect. They need to figure out a way to keep ride height as close to the ground as possible without stalling and keeping the height stable. The elegant solution is active suspension. Maybe they’ll open that up again.

Debatable I guess. But Preventing the ride height drop that creates the initial stall that starts the porpoising seems like a good place to start at least. As a fan of the technical stuff, I'm definitely not interested in seeing a "cheater" fix to this issue with active suspension. I'd much rather see the aero engineering fix that gets the floor to seal. But it sounds like there could be issues with active suspension making the cars too fast, which means tracks suddenly wouldn't meet safety criteria any longer. So active suspension could be unlikely for that reason. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The way I understand it is the car hits the ground and there is no air flow underneath so it goes back up and repeats. If a bump stop is added it will always have airflow underneath and can just stay low.
Active suspension would be cool but expensive and heavy. The teams are already having a hard time getting the weight down.
Danny Ric is cleared for Bahrain!!
Feels wrong not starting in Australia.

Yeah, but when you think about it, it didn't make sense for F1, with all their teams based in Europe, to start their season in a timezone 11 hours away (time gap from Sydney to F1 HQ in London). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yeah my fiancé had the same issue with trying to make an account for fantasy. Try swapping the month and days I think that solved it?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It tried that too, but it wouldn't let me input it because there aren't 27 months in a year. Though I guess it really wouldn't matter to put a fake birthday in there (I don't think)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
