It's probably LESS than 100k, with 100k including benefits and what not that the cap will consider as total cost of employment. F1 pays like shit, unless you're a driver, a big name team principal, or Adrian Newey. You have a lot of people lining up to do those jobs to be part of the circus, so almost all F1 jobs pay at the bottom of the scale, unless you can single handedly deliver results.

It's a massive revolving door. Everyone seems to work there a couple years, then head off with some great real world experience for a real paying job.
Can confirm, most positions are paid like shit. my friend had the opportunity to work in F1 as an engineer and declined it basically based on travels and pay. You're better off working in regional series with less travel and races.

edit: Yes my friend does qualify to work in F1, he's currently a race engineer on a in Japan on a Super-GT team.

Red bulls over spending was at the end of the day 150k … they get a 25k fine that’s it … the massive over spend was on power trains which was not in the cap last year and the cause of confusion.

Aston Martin was 4 mil over big fine and reduction of wind tunnel time for next year

Pretty sure that was a fake edited FIA release. The FIA announced this morning they wouldn't release any details until next Monday now.

I'd never really thought through this before, but that makes perfect sense. $100k LCR is like $60k salary lol.

So if the rumors are true and RBR is well over the budget cap last year, what should the punishment be? Will the FIA have the balls to strip them of the championships? Going over by 7-10m is a massive advantage. Either FIA is strict and actually punishes them, otherwise, everyone just going to blow through the cap and treat it like a luxury tax.

I have zero confidence in FIA changing any meaningful results.
Hopefully no consequences. This is like doping in the Olympics. It seems unfair for the unlucky bastard who got caught, when every other competitor is doing the same anyway.

I think that’s basically the arrangement, before taxes

If that "fake" release is based on truth, it also suggested that Red Bull Racing had their powertrain division working on floor design and wind tunnel testing which was exempt since it was part of the powertrain costs.

I don't know enough about how the cost caps are calculated but if that's true then it's a massive loophole.

I’m surprised Mercedes let de vries go. That’s a good trade for redbull. Good for gasly too, I was disappointed with the amount of time he had in the redbull.

Riccardo looked pretty good with the new Upgrade package in qualifying. If it wasn't for that lock up at the end of Q2 he probably would've made it through to Q3. Such a tight pack in qualifying.

Turned out it was just mother nature that effed that race up.

Good to see Max win the title so dominantly this year.

    What a start for Stroll!

When I saw Latifi in a points position, I thought it was a guarantee they wouldn't make the 27 laps needed.

Stayed up to watch and it was worth it, but wtf they ended up awarding full points? I thought it was 19 points for first after 50% race distance.

The worded of the regs say if a race is resumed, and can’t be restarted, these are the points awarded. Since they finished under green that section doesn’t apply. It would only come into play in a situation like Spa last year where they don’t resume.

overall fuck that was a mess of a race. Can’t think of a more embarrassing one in terms of race control.

Delayed start because once again race control is scared of using wet tires. Then a Red flag because cars crashed on inters without even trying to resume on wets. A tractor on the track while Gasly was still catching the pack is a massive fuck up. They threw the checkered flag one lap early because Max did cross the line with sufficient time left for an additional lap.

The tractor on track was the scariest part + Gasly picking up Rolex ad

    Race was good though!

Charles and Checo dogfight near the end was spicy
