Wow that was an awesome quali! Big mistake from Russell going onto the slicks, that 1st sector was wayyyy too wet.
I don’t really see it as a mistake tbh. He tried to take a gamble and if it paid off he’d be on the front row. He lost and starts 8th but he’s always been clear of the midfield cars anyways. Passing the two Haas cars isn’t even a concern. He’s just got the two alpines to fend with basically

He would have started p4 or 5 had he stayed on the inters. Down to 8 instead. Track (especially S1) was way way too wet you could see it with cars on inters struggling through that section. The vets who are wet specialists all stayed on the inters. The only gamble was whether or not he was going to come back with a car in 1 piece or not.

Ill give him credit for thinking outside the box and trying something different, but it was just was a stupid decision.

Like it actually blows my mind.
Are these people so narcissistic that they don't realize how hypocritical they actually are?

    Literally paid puppets.

Fuck that guy and people like him so hard.

Cool to see Alonso up there on the front row and Vettel in the back
Vettel had great pace in practice but all that bad karma from his stupid anti-oil sands helmet must have caught up with him.

Vettel literally said it was hypocritical. So it’s like saying no homo.

You guys think this is hypocrisy?

I'm actually fine with Vettel's move. He's literally bashing the competitor of his largest sponsor. What's so weird about that?

Sainz might win now. 20 laps with fresh rubbers

Goddamn TSN. I forgot their difficult-to-find schedule doesn't change for time zones (nor does it list any time zone - it's up to you to find out on your own that it's in eastern time).

I had a laugh at the FIA ruling on Mercs concerns about the bouncing cars and driver safety. Instead of regulation changes to the cars to help Mercedes, they're putting limits on the amount of bounce you can have. Sorry Toto, build a better car, or raise it up and lose performance. But at least old man Lewis won't be bitching about compressed spine discs now. Hope this doesn't affect Russel who has been having a good run with the W13 so far. And the big question now, is will Ferrari get penalized for this? Even with the porpoising, they've been very competitive. It would be a shame for them to have to change the car now and make it a runaway season for RBR.
Ferrari will definitely be affected. They’re porpoising the most out of anyone based on the data, right up there with the Mercs, but have shut up about it because they’re competitive.

That said, was surprised both RBR and Ferrari not happy about this, while Merc who’s probably given up the season welcomes it. Comments from the team this weekend certainly suggest that, as they built their entire philosophy around a car that has to run as low as possible to the ground to get in their performance window, while Red Bull designed their car around a high ride height with a much wider performance window. Not a whole lot they can do to salvage the season from the looks of it.

They just broadcast the race live

Well it already seemed like a stupid idea for Russel to attempt qualifying on softs. And the race confirmed it. He might've bettered his starting position by doing another lap on inters, which could've been the difference in him being on podium instead of Hamilton. But at least he kept his Mr. Consistency streak going.

What a drive from Leclerc! He earned that DOTD.

Those AM's sure drug the life out those tires.

Was weird that Checo couldn't tell the difference between a PU issue, and an obvious Transmission/drivetrain issue.
