For a good laugh, watch the finish from Hamilton’s in car. He doesn’t realize the race ended and keeps racing Ocon, who slowed down a bit, but kept defending hard for some reason. It took a radio call before he realized the race was over after the S’s and slowed down.

So looks like the points awarded for the race was originally intended to be partial per the pre-season discussions and adjustments to the rules after Spa last year. However when the actual regs we’re written they were done incorrectly and no one caught it during reviews.
original F1 commission meeting discusses partial points based on laps completed. Nothing about only if the race isn’t resumed. Guess that makes a bit more sense why so many of the teams and broadcast were confused by it and no one corrected until after.

Charles tires were cooked
It's pretty crazy seeing the difference between the two race after race. I wonder if it's the Ferrari is particularly bad at tire management or if RB switching to a higher downforce setup made that much of a difference. I kind of think back to Monza where RB ran the largest rear wing by far and yet still pulled solid straight line speed. I genuinely think they've found the perfect balance to stall the rear wing aero at high speeds which lets them run way more downforce across all tracks now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Wouldn't higher downforce eat up those tires even more? School me.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

No it would probably mean less sliding in those conditions and more tire life. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This year Ferrari is eating tires, I’d guess less aero grip and using the mechanical grip from the tires. Gives them great qualifying pace but bad race pace. Mercedes isn’t using the tires fast this year so there race pace is quite good.
As twin cam said, higher downforce means more grip and less sliding so you typically wear tires less under braking and cornering. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Apparently Red Bulls cost cap breach was due to catering. Free lunch for all employees daily at the factory. The memes are amazing.
If I overspend on engineering, then not include catering in my cost cap submission to stay under the cap, am I really breaching because of catering?
But on brand for RBR marketing and PR to blame and meme catering to win the court of public opinion that a slap on the wrist is fair. A drink company can get away with that. Would Ferrari and Mercedes be able to clear their names as cleanly if they leverage this loophole in the future? Doubtful.

Is there a source on the catering stuff, or is this still all hearsay?

Ferrari was cool with getting their cheating swept under the rug a year or 2 ago
The source is RBR that’s what makes it so hilarious. They’re just spewing BS thru this process because FIA has released zero info. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Before Monday: we never cheated. We never went over. It’s all speculation. We gonna sue Ferrari and Mercedes for accusing us.
After Monday: nbd it’s just catering.
We have zero clue how minor this is. 100k? 7m? There’s zero info other than leaks, which wasn’t even fully accurate based on what we do know now.

Then I will try not to jump to any conclusions until the FIA releases anything.
