I've read some articles, like Vasseur complaining about how they messed up quali but prioritizing a race setup over a quali. But I thought, with parc ferme rules, that the operating philosophy was to always prioritize a setup for the race and not a one-lap quali time?

RBR is notorious for setting up for quali and sacrificing for race when they know they don't have the race pace. Track position, blocking, and fingers crossed for SC strategy. They literally did that for the final race of last year.

Can't make the assumption that everyone sets up for race.

I wish they would scrap parc ferme... it was best with quali cars, motors, rads, etc... it was great to see the cars when they went balls to the walls as fast as they can go...i

I want refuelling back and tire rules to be scraped

especially for some tracks. Australia is pretty known for not being great for overtaking so more often than not if you can start at the front you’re going to be able to hold it decently well unless pit stops / safety cars fuck you

Yes. How can you leave out old engines though? V10 or V12 has to come back too.

Someone should start a 1990 F1 revival race series. I think I'd rather watch that.

As much as I want it back, it would be the quickest way to end f1. Costs to do it are astronomical.

I watched the 30 min version of the Grand Prix of Long Beach today. It looked like some good racing on a street circuit. Grojean almost got the victory.

Then the race at Texas started next and there was nobody there to watch, I think nascar has almost no fans out these days. The good ol boys are gone.

Decent sprint today, loved the patience. There's a real distinct reduction in tension and overall increase in friendliness with the current front pack. It feels so much lighter. Crazy that merc almost doesn't even feel like a midfield team at the moment (WDC points be damned), they're running with the backmarkers. What happened to their reported Imola upgrade package? The mini winglets on the main body? I thought they'd pull it out much better in the dry because the wet was just not happening for them.

If you watched fp2 Mercedes had great pace, 1st and 3rd I think. They got stuck in the drs train in the sprint. Great driving by verstappen to get the pole for tmr, he is driving so much smarter this year just getting bad luck. Mclaren looking good for leader of the midfield.

I still dislike sprints but that was a clean one.

Definitely a different feeling this year with no deep animosity from the top of the pack compared to the past years.

People care about FP times? Mercedes has no pace during the race. They can barely keep up in the midfield.

Also agreed that this is one of the better Spring races. Having points all the way down to 8th definitely helps with driver's taking more risk and some good racing.

LOL RUSSEL. definitely learning from LH school of crying

    2022 Italian GP...

Did Mercedes get George Russell or did George Russell get into another Willams branded as Mercedes...? That is the thought of the day..
Right now the way the Merc bobs up and down... is it really a F1 car or is it a clown car?

Max is up front, but will the engine last the course this time...?
Magnessen and Alonso up in 4th and 5th... impressive...

I've only bought general admission tix but have managed my way into every grandstand so far. Today they were corralling people into Rivazza and after watching the coverage I can see why - they're just making the crowds look good for the camera.

Great race to be at though. Beautiful track with lots of great viewing opportunities, good food/beers, and a friendly vibe. Stoked for tomorrow!

Because the racist patriarchy got sick of seeing a black(half)man(questionable) succeed. Duh!

Fp Times definitely have value, Mercedes will probably get into the points in the race. Watch hass fall back, Bottas looked great though for Alfa. Alonso might fall back too.

    Boring race was boring.
DRS should have been active once teams went to slicks.
