I'd be surprised if Herta doesn't get a SL. He has all the qualifications and skill wise is sufficient to be on the grid but the points system for F1 licenses is quite dumb. Herta getting 5th in Indy gets 8 license points but if he got 5th in Formula 3 that would've been worth 12 points. Same with his 7th place finish getting 4 points instead of F3 being worth 7 points for 7th. He would also qualify with his Indy Lights points except apparently no points count for that series because there wasn't enough drivers on the grid. Seems odd it wouldn't at least scale somewhat.

Though I'd rather see them rebalance the points system rather than make an exception just for him.

Race was lol. Lol @ LH and Ferrari. Never disappoints. I think Mercedes did the right thing to pit GR if they're looking for the win. LH keeps track position and GR can try and chase MV. Season is fucking lost for them might as well try for one win. If none of them pits, they still can't keep max behind them with new softs.

I don't understand the hype behind Herta. Its not like he's super competitive in Indy. Sure he's American and young...?? Quite a few teams are against giving him the super license.

Also, Jesus fuck on DR. Racing for last place while Landon is going for fifth. How can that be possible ..

I quite enjoyed the race. Just when it was getting a bit of a lul VSC, then SC come in. Red Bull strategists made great decisions. Ferrari blunders with Sainz as always, what could go wrong for him did go wrong.

Ham getting mad at Merc for an Abu Dhabi 2021 restart was laughable. Russell made a good decision but he had nothing to lose at the end of the day so easy one to make.

Perez somehow has no pace compared to Max for some reason. Makes me think he is outdriving that car. And with the pressure on him this weekend, Max did very well.

Alonso with a great drive. Was all over the place, passing and battling, seemed to be constantly in the fray. Really enjoying his racing lately.

Season is basically over regarding #1 driver and constructor. But at least these races are entertaining and interesting.

O'ward is under contract with McLaren. No fukcing way they let him go. ... Well, who knows lol

As for leaving George out, then you'll have max passing both like they're standing. Once the safety car is out Mercedes is fucked either way. Piting only George at least gives them a chance.

Right I was thinking of O ward to mclaren instead of oscar, not Herta switching to a redbull team. Speaking of indycar, how good is Will Power?? He's been at the front of indycar for years and never had a real chance at F1.

I believe Herta has a contract with McLaren (F1 side) as well? Either way I believe Zak Brown said they he wouldnt stand in the way of a F1 seat for one of their indy guys (might also be in their contracts as well). Herta is all high risk/reward... theres been a few times where he's spun out from the lead even. I wouldnt mind him in a AT seat but the car is such trash that I doubt he'd do much.

As for Will Power, the guy is 41, no way he'd get a chance at F1 now but I think he knows that he'd have way more success in Indy with arguably the best team than in F1 with a bottom feeder and hence why he was never interested in making the jump

I watched the race last week. Great drive by Max and keeping his cool. Merc messed this up. I don't understand how they did not pit Hamilton. How the hell did they think Ham would finish on old mediums..? If he pitted he would have lost a pace but at least be on good tires. Good call by Lord Russell.
How did Ferrari mess this up? I don't get it. Great drive by Albon though.
