I just think it begs the question of how do you shut down such a large stretch of the strip to pedestrians for the better part of a week? Force people to walk down the back sidewalks of Sinatra Drive? That stretch just one block east of the strip is a little dicey too.
I don’t see why it’s overly complicated. Very little of the strip actually walks right along Vegas blvd. So much of it is through the casinos and then pedways across. Vegas has no issue making things inconvenient for the sake of upselling (see every club in Vegas). Lots of barriers that block the view to the main strip and then carve out grand stands at most of the intersection for viewing. There’s only really 2 intersections where pedestrians walk across the strip in that area. The rest are all bridges over.

There’s really no issue having 10 foot fences erected where F1 people walk on one side and plebs on the other to get along the track.

And then open a few crossings over the strip to connect the hotels inside to the main areas. Block it all in advertising and you’re set. Only issue would be cars / Ubers getting to the inside casinos but that’s probably why it’s taking place so late. Open a few crossings during the day and then shut down when F3/2/1 are on the track.

Also knowing Vegas it wouldn’t surprise me if some of those prime inside hotels block off all bookings and you can only buy ‘packages’ that include race tickets for a crazy high fee.

Don’t they want to expand the calendar, not sure how this works with a cap on their bodget?? I’d assume they have to raise the budget to do more tracks.

Wife is ready to book a Vegas trip to see the race, that’s easy at least.

F1 has thier business in control. There will be ZERO free viewing of that race.
Actually no, many "tracks" allow you to watch the racing without tickets. Ie: Singapore/Monaco. It isnt enclosed afterall...

The Concorde agreement caps it at 24 races currently. With Vegas, Qatar, and China returning next year means one race has to be dropped.

When I went to the Singapore GP in 2019 I was surprised on how well every single part of the venue was fenced off and blacked out. We only had race day tickets and we walked the permitter during qualifying day with the hope of seeing something and we couldn't see a single thing. When we entered the grounds on race day it was the same thing, everything was fenced off and blacked out, so you couldn't just buy a general admission ticket and then hang out along the track somewhere to watch the actual race. The only way that I could see you watching the race for "free" is if you had a hotel or apartment with a view of the circuit, but even the hotels would probably charge you a mini fortune if your room had any sort of view.

When you are on the ground on the track it's a different story obviously. I've been to the Sinapore GP and yes they fence off / board off a lot of sections and bridges to prevent people from standing around random places. But if you are somewhere high in an apartment or hotel room overlooking the track, there is nothing prevents you from watching the GP with no tickets.

I think you're agreeing, while disagreeing...
I believe that there's no free lunch for those who don't have access to pay to play.

Latifi crash was 100% on Stroll.

McLaren found nothing. This track is rewarding lack of downforce, which mclaren has plenty of.

Stroll gets a 3 place grid penalty for that crash too by the looks of it. Question is what happens when you get a 3 place penalty if you're already last?

Interesting that there was no penalty for stroll for facing Bottas off the track. That was a clear cut case of breach of the passing rules that were clarified at the start of the season. Had to leave 1 car width.
