Poor ricciardo, he was portrayed as the fun, lovable talented guy in F1 by netflix, and as soon as he switched it all went down the shitter for him.
But like others have mentioned, good drivers leaving redbull just seems to tank anyones career.

Always liked DR as a person, sucks to see his career go down the drain.
he'll end up with either an Indy ride or Nascar (given how much time he spends in the US). Perhaps even get a fried chicken sponsor of some sort....but i agree. losing a great personality from F1 - maybe he'll get a seat somewhere.

DR to AT? Return to RBR in 2025?

Apparently Haas called him up in case Mick is droppedThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This rumor mill is getting absurd. All the online personas seem to think it's a given DR would just go back to Alpine. But I can't imagine why Alpine would even want him back, unless it's because they can get a driver for a super discount. And now the talk of him going to Haas, meanwhile there is no indication Mick would not get his contract renewed for next year.
DR is fun guy and good attitude for team marketing, but as a driver I'd say he is done. The RBR car suited his driving, but a good driver changes his style to get the most out of a car, and that's where he has struggled. Surely every team principle is thinking something similar at this point.
Because he's still the best driver out there available to be signed this late into the season. He also did very well in the Renault in his two years there. Who would you rather have? Him or Mick?
I think Haas being interested in DR is more likely because Mick is moving on. Likely getting he lands at Alpine but could also see Alpha Tauri in Yuki’s seat.
Audi F1 2026

https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/3...-enter-f1-2026Amid reports it is close to confirming a deal to buy into the existing Sauber F1 team, which currently races under the name of title sponsor Alfa Romeo, Duesmann said Audi had considered a number of chassis partner options and would make an announcement before the end of the year.
"There are fantastic chassis partners on the grid and we did talk to several. We will inform you when we decide," he said.
Later on Friday, Alfa Romeo confirmed it would end its partnership with Sauber before the end of 2023.
Asked if Audi would expect to be competitive straight away in F1, Duesmann added: "I feel that's not realistic. That would be ideal, but we certainly have a plan internally what we want to do.
"Ideally within the first three years we should be very competitive."
Trick question? Do I want the young driver who is getting better, still learning and adapting, that can become an eventual contributor to my teams success? Or the guy at the tail end of his career, is much more expensive, and can only be successful if I design the entire car around him and his preferences(which might not even be possible with current regs)? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Wut? the relationship with Oscar isnt repairable. So he's not an option what so ever. Who else would you rather have over DR that's available in the world?
What I didn't understand for Alpine was signing Ocon to such a long contract. He's been beaten every year by his teammates and really isnt anything special. Sure he's French and Alpine probably wants to keep a French driver.... But I'd rather have Piastri + Alonso than Ocon + whoever.
2017: 87 points to Pérez's 100.
2018: 49 points to Pérez's 62
2020: 62 points to Ricciardo's 119.
2021: 74 points to Alonso's 81
0-4 in 4 years. ouch.
edit:
now that DR is confirmed to be dropped, one would think that Piastri and Mclaren's contract is rock solid. can you imagine if CRB sides with Alpine and voids the Mclaren contract.... that'd be some lol
Ok? Is there a reason for inserting random unrelated F1 tidbits? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Again, what does Piastri have to do with any of this? He is going to Mclaren, not part of this discussion. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As per discussion, would I rather have Mick or DR...... Yes, Mick.
Agreed on Ocon, I've never had any love for him.
Well you make it sound like it's between Piastri and DR. But ok I'll bite. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Mick hasn't done very much to even suggest that he's an everyday F1 driver, let alone any upside. He's been dominated by Magnussen, whom has been away for a full yea with limited sim and testing on the 2022 cars. and lets be honest, Magnussen isnt anything special either. So for Alpine to take on another project, in the mid of fighting to come out ahead of the midfield is a huge gamble they dont have to take. DR might not be what he was 3 years ago, but he'll still give you surprise results that'd add to your point total. While Mick will just crash out and add to your cost total.
btw: Haas called DR to offer him Mick's seat just days ago. You'd think Mick's current employer would know him best...
