What I find most interesting about the max-checo thing is the radio comms just as Max finishes where Max refuses and says they've already talked about it and he said gave his reasoning. So clearly the team talked about trying to help Checo secure #2 and Max refused it ahead of time. So it wasn't just a head of the moment thing.

Weird to believe they have that much beef and Max would be so petty over things. Even if Checo did bin it on purpose in Monaco ... it's not like Max hasn't had an incredible season regardless.

Though it makes it funny looking at talks back in Mexico of people thinking Max would let Checo win on home ground when Max won't even give up 6th for him.

Max was very shortsighted and not seeing the big picture. Maybe that's given his young age or maybe it's just the type of person he is. Now he has to deal with the consequences of a teammate that won't help him as much in the future. Max said he will help Checo in Abu Dhabi but can you really believe him? Trust has been broken between the Max and Checo, and the team and Checo.

If you were the team boss, what would you do? Max embarrassed the team and Horner today. If I were the boss and a subordinate did that to me, I would read him the riot act and put him in his place. I would focus all attention and resources to Checo's side of the garage next race and hope he wins 2nd in the championship even if it means screwing Max's performance.

What a shame. It was a good year for the team and this has drawn negative attention to team.

Put one of the Junior drivers in Max’s car, deny him a shot at a 15th win

As a Max fan, I honestly thought this year he was showing a lot more maturity. Other than perhaps his little rant in Singapore during Q3. But not helping Checo today was childish.

Yea deff. not surprising for Max. Once an asshole, forever an asshole. Called it long time ago. Feel bad for Checo after he did for the guy last year.

Hope Check never does a thing for him in the future.

I hope this comes back in the next race to bite Max in the ass. You know he will be looking for a 15th win to really try and secure that record of most wins in a season. Would love to see Checo just let a car by on fresher tires, to go steal the win away from Max. That was a new low for Max, after Checo essentially won him the championship last year with his defense on Hamilton that one race. The least Max could do is let Checo score some points for 2nd place. FFS, Max could have DNF'd the race and he is still champion this year.

Man did it suck to see KMag get wiped out on the first lap. Starting from 8th he had a nice shot to score some points this race.

Good for Russel on his first win. The highlight was watching him keep Hamilton out of DRS window the entire time.

Even without the win, Hamilton still not out of horseshoes yet. One hell of a lucky break for him to not get the penalty after refusing to leave room for Max. That incident really changed the whole outlook for the race.

I'm curious if anyone at RBR, or anyone in his camp (friends, family, advisors, whomever), can reign him in after this. Optically, this is a terrible look for him.
My guess is Max's PR team will ask Nelson Piquet to publicly deny the holocaust to pull some attention away.

I also expect RBR will go over the 2023 cost cap and blame their security costs for Max in Mexico.

Awesome to have such a spicy race when the championships have been already decided.
Pretty eventful for a non weather affected race. Congrats on the first win George and Mercedes on a 1-2.
Perez has until the end of 2024 with RBR; Max is shortsighted to say the least.
Abu Dhabi will be a snooze fest as usual.

One thing I realized as I thought about this more:

According to the radio message, Max had previously discussed his position with the team. So did the team just think Max was bluffing (or that jets had cooled since Monaco, assuming that's what it was really about), or did they order Checo to give up his place knowing that Max wouldn't (or may not) give the place back?

That was a huge downer, Kmag punted off by no fault of his own but at least he instant-karma'd Ricciardo.

Coupled with the fact that Max admitted that he knew Lewis would not give him room on the inside, and made the conscious decision to yeet himself into the turn anyway to make the contact. Although, I think the penalty should have gone to Lewis, I lost respect for Max even more for this incident knowing what he admitted in the post-race interview.

I am not a Max fan and not a RBR fan either.
Having said that if what ever is reported in the media is true (About Perez purposely crashing so that he can keep his qualiy position in Monaco) then I see no issues in what Max did.

Rosberg did it blatantly in Monaco as well and that was the turning point in that relationship as well.

Non geo blocked analysis of Max's penalty. I agreed with Martin live, but Karun makes a good argument.

I agree with this. I don't think Max had any hope of making that corner in any sort of competitive way, and he was expecting Lewis to compromise his line so that he could squeeze him out on turn 3.

This is the only way Max has driven his entire career. I'm surprised it's news to people.
