Zero demerits still. I did have two on my license for a couple years but other than that I’ve been clean since 2013. I actually took the deal with no demerits and the same fine as the insurance hit would be significantly more than the fine these days.

Make sense to fight, but doesn’t make sense in leveraging tickets as a metric for insurance rates. I drive fast but often with the flow of traffic. Every ticket I’ve gotten wasn’t me speeding over the flow of traffic, it’s just I was the unlucky chosen one to get dinged.

Then there are the drivers that are slow, inattentive, make everyone around them drive defensively to not get fucked over by their didn’t check blind spot lane change who are the real bad drivers that don’t get speeding tickets because speed traps don’t catch them being stupid.

So yea I’m fighting every one I can.

My last ticket, poiints literally said they can’t do anything for me. It was a 10 over ticket, after the hockey game on crowchild, driving in a pack of 4 cars, and I was the unlucky one. Pulled up dashcam to confirm, and hilariously enough I was telling my passenger how I drive with a pack and avoid tickets. Fucking spoke too soon haha. Yea, that one is on record. If I get another one gotta delay it 2 yrs if I can’t fight it.

Funny, got pulled over today by an unmarked Explorer. Same deal, on Crowchild, cruise control at 100, with a pack of 4 cars me in the tail end. I get the lucky pull over. Cop yells at me that it's xmas eve, he's going to tell someone they died because of me, etc etc. Asked me why I was speeding, said I'm driving with traffic, doesn't matter, yells at me for speeding again and noted conditions (roads were dry lol). I apologize profusely 10x it's my fault and he lets me off with a warning.

The funny part of the story is he tails me to make sure I'm not speeding, and of course going 80 I get cut off 3x within 2 exits by idiot drivers, while he just watched.

I mean, thanks for the break, but pull the real dangerous drivers off the road where you'll be telling someone they died on xmas eve because of those idiots.

The wild part is how few people actually get it. My abstract is clean as a whistle for like 4 years now, but the piss poor state of traffic enforcement that only focuses on speed boils my blood. Most people like to just buck it off by saying "It doesn't affect me, because I don't speed" NO! It 100% affects you, because if the cops did their damn jobs and enforced traffic safety, instead of being jackboot tax collectors for the government, then you'd be less likely to get hit by some other ass wipe that can't bother to pay attention when behind the wheel, since nobody enforces that they do.

Yeah speeding is the least of this city’s worries. The amount of other dangerous, dumb and incompetent things I see from people behind the wheel on a daily basis is what the police should be focusing on. It was a record year for me almost being hit or seeing cars driving the wrong way down one way roads, 8 times in 2023.

For those that went to court did any of you contact the Prosecutor for information disclosure ahead of the trial? Stuff like the officer’s notes, copy of the actual ticket, witness statements (lol)?
