    Default Largest Volume Suitcase

So I'm in the market for a new suitcase.

Been using an old thing I bought at Sears, so that'll give you an idea of how old it is

I don't pay for my baggage fees, company cover it, so just looking for the biggest thing I can get. Mostly because I pack my own pillow and a cotton sleeping bag to avoid using nasty hotel shit.

Prefer a soft shell bad boy, never had a hard shell that can keep up with the use and abuse it gets from airlines. My job is 100% travel so it sees a LOT of miles through the year.

    Any suggestions or recommendations?

Extra points if it's uber lairy looking

I'm personally a fan of the Travelpro Maxlite series. Super light while still being pretty solid overall. Looks like largest version is 29".

Budget? I work in an industry that historically has lots of travel (albeit only for 3-4 days per week so never check bags), and this is the stalwart brand:

If budget is less baller, this is a relative newcomer that seems to be pretty good:

I have some really fancy models of Heys "Elite Pro #Buzzword #Premium" and it's pretty much complete shit.
    So, -1 for Heys.

    Briggs and Riley

Lifetime warranty especially useful for wheels. There’s also a local repair centre in Calgary

Edit: Handys Luggage but unsure if they’re still open due to COVID

I wouldn’t bother with Tumi retail price because they got bought out by samsonite and their warranty changes.

Tumi at the outlet mall is worth a look though so CrossIron

The benefit of masks is not known at this time. But we do know it is some non-trivial amount more than zero.

We also know that the cost of mask use is, essentially, zero.

So the cost:benefit of mask use is approaching infinity. I'll take that every time. And every time I see someone without a mask, I think they are stupid.

Tumi was bought by Samsonite in 2016, and quality has gone down. Not worth the price, unless you like to pay for the brand name.

Just go to the bay , they will have some sort 50-70% off sales .. pick up a nice 4 wheeler and be done with it.

i find the biggest one are a bit of problem to fill them and keep within weight limits of airlines. so finding a suitcase that is the lightest is important.

other then that just go cheap...

Only buy luggage from the Bay at 50% or more off. Never pay full price there.

The cheap route is certainly an option. With a job that is 100% travel, I'd bet the price of one of those cheap bags that the bag will need replacement every year or two.

Thread derail, bought a new carry-on for Christmas. Went out of my way to avoid the four-wheel style because I feel they are less durable and not space-efficient.

Both a little more than I was looking to spend, look super nice but I still think they'd get as equally destroyed as a $50 one from Walmart

Air Canada and Westjet both take up to 70lbs so no worries there

Was thinking maybe a hockey goalie style duffel bag with wheels might be the best way to go

The Rimowa ones withstand an insane amount of abuse. But yes, they're expensive.

I think you're on the right track with the hockey bag. Or a motocross gear bag (pretty similar to hockey bag). Whatever you do, don't get a cheap generic large 4 wheeler. It will fall apart and be a waste of money.

Oh, I figured you just meant the standard $26/bag that Co. paid because going over 50 lb becomes insanity.

We're not allowed to book the cheap fares that don't have baggage allowance

I think it's $50 for the overweight, $100 for the second case then $130 for the 3rd with AC for domestic flights...if you're paying for 2nd and 3rd bags that includes up to 70lbs

Its better in the states, cos there's a fedex on every corner and if i ship tools they'll beat me to the site and it costs about $ tree fiddy

Hockey bag yes. Wheeled hockey bag no. I had one when I was a kid because I thought it would be sweet sweet titties. It's not, and you'll carry it on your shoulder 100% of the time and drag it 0% of the time. Wheeled bags are a pain in the cunt to carry and you're already going to be miserable by being in an airport, so don't add that shit to your life.

Also, packing your own bedding is fuckin weird but that's none of my business I suppose.
