Default Does anyone have any experience with a Multistrada?

Now that I am gainfully employed, I am looking for a new bike. Does anyone have any experience with a Multistrada? I am looking at a 2016 with 22k on it. Seems to be in good shape, but I have heard that maintenance is a killer on these. I am also looking at a BMW S1000R, and wondering the same thing. I know they are very different bikes, and I am having trouble deciding between the 2.

    Thanks.

If you want something as impractical as a motorcycle, it might as well be Italian.
I wish my motorcycle was Italian...

I have a Ducati and just ordered a BMW, so maybe that helps on your decision. The multistradas are great though, if you want to tour.

Bikes are where it's at. Much more exciting than the car world ATM.

Cars generally lack passion across the board nowadays- even the expensive ones. I also have no interest in paying the pandemic car tax and buying into a bubble.

Thanks for the replies. I was wary about Ducati's reliability, and this just confirms it.

Now to try and find a nice S1000R that's not too damn expensive. Or maybe even a S1000XR.

I don't think Ducatis are unreliable...more jsut high maintenance.

But BMW is never a bad choice. Unless it has 4 wheels.

Well, I have a 4 wheel BMW, so I guess I need the set now.

Ducatis are definitely not the maintenance nightmare as most think especially the newer ones. I had 2 and every time i went out another rider would come up say the same" nice bike, must suck to maintain" lol Take a look at the maintenance schedule and ill bet its not much more than your jap brand. The service and parts will be a bit more but at the end of the day its a Duc so goes with the territory.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Thanks. It's still in the cards. The one I am looking at has 22k on it, so almost at the valve check mileage. That can get pricey from what I've read.

Yeah you'll notice a lot of sellers will try and sell just before that service because as you said its pricey. Not sure about the multi but on an 1199 it was around 1400 if i recall right. Tricky part now is there probably arent a ton for sale and im sure bikes are going for premiums too. Call up sport cycle or black foot to get an idea what the approximate cost is and try negotiate that into the price. Brian and Jun(if hes still there) at sport cycle really do know their shit and are hardcore about duc.
