The research is pretty neat, depending on the depth of the water the nuke is detonated in, the tsunami size correlates to how much water the nuke vaporizes. This apparently is because it's not the nuke moving the water to create the tsunami, so much as the big hole of water that has the ocean rush into fill.

Yeah it's really interesting, it's an entirely different mechanism than your average tectonic movement. It definitely makes for some large swells but they found they were fairly localized - unlike the undersea quakes that displace water directly, the nuke's inrush sort of works against itself a bit. The displaced water has somewhere to go rather than becoming a huge compression wave.

Agreed that a MT+ test would be pretty wild but water tests also happen to be extra-bad for fallout. Unlike air/land bursts the wet tests generate some spicy stuff with ~16h half-lives.

Sus that this comes the same week Russia announced annexation. And CIA warned EU in June a potential incident caused Germany and others going hard to fill the storages.

Both Russia and EU are losers. Russia's pipeline shutdown turn meaningless and basically 80-90% of gas revenue is cut off and no longer in driving position. EU energy crisis deepens.
