Previously, in this thread, we talked about how current fleet of Abrams tanks were nearing end of life. Donating those, plus 50% more for "parts" would have been such a clear win for everyone. Then they could have spent that money with the contractors to build whatever next gen tank they have planned.

Net spending would have been similar, but capabilities would ha e increased.

Now, money will be spent to scrap those Abrams tanks, money spent on new Abrams tanks for the Ukraine, and money spent very soon on next gen tanks.

Total outlay is probably 4x when all said and done.

I'm much less hardline than most. I don't even object to the scale of government spending, usually. But I have strong philosophical objections to the details of many government programs.

And as previously mentioned, the US non-export Abrams all have classified systems and DU armour, which Congress is likely never going to approve being donated to a non-NATO nation. I agree I'd love to see them over there hunting T90s but it's a pipe dream at present.

The donation that would cause the greatest increase in UAF warfighting ability with the smallest outlay is the US's 400,000-ton stockpile of cluster munitions (MLRS, 155mm) that are currently slated for scrapping - but that, too is a political problem (UXO bad!) despite the war zone already having been saturated by Russion cluster munitions already.

Meanwhile, I just heard on CNN, despite the Russian meat grinding Machine slaughtering Ukranians at an insane rate (160k dead, 400k wounded), and steadily taking land, Solidar etc, CNN says Russia is about to lose with 14 Nazi tanks coming in 3 months.
