They want security guarantees that ukraine will not be part of nato, and they want to keep at least crimea and the donbass/land bridge to crimea. Russia does not trust the USA that claims to be a "benign hegemony" because russians have eyes and brains.

Ukraine is the 2nd most corrupt country in Europe, second to only Russia.
It's almost a guarantee that massive amounts of the funds were stolen for personal gain. Ukraine keeps firing officials to try and save face, but the officials that get fired are just the tip of the iceberg.

The West's support for Ukraine is pretty hilarious, people here have very little idea how the East works (coming from a Slav with parents from the Soviet Union)

I've always surmised that the Space Race between the USA and Russia was primarily for military rocket thrust technology (ICBM)

If it happened, it was never about man on the moon. At this point, I'm sure people are questioning if Russia even landed a rover on the moon.

That ICBM's never saw any practical use for 50 years (no actual nuclear war) it was simply an expense that two alpha males had to maintain which eventually ended up starving anyone who followed either gorilla. Now that military maintenance has come to its own self fruition, much like how Britain had to try to conquer the world to justify it expense in producing galleons and muskets.

Russias advance is predictably through Ukraine. USA advance is more predictable through Hawaii (kicking out the local monarchy) then Guam (subjugating and overwhelming the populace), a failed attempt at taking the Phillippines, but possibly trying to take Taiwan - or a better guess Australia through subtrufuge.

Australia has zero chance of winning a war against the USA considering Japan is a forward operating base for the USA upon Japans loss in WWII.
