I'll probably get flamed for this but I think the current US administration played Putin perfectly through this conflict. Constantly trusting their intel orgs and pushing all that info publicly was the perfect counter to Russias plan. We've seen their plan unfold now, station troops at the border, breakaway regions declare independence, russia recognizes them then provides 'support' then it's a 'military occupation' then war. But with all the info telling their plan before it happened we saw that all rush in a ~72 hour span. That likely meant their military didn't have time to push forward into the breakaway regions and then regroup and restock pile.

Definitely looks like Russia is losing all it's momentum and a huge blunder. I genuinely think the US constantly pushing their plan public is a huge underrated part of that.

Russia has no intent to occupy or defeat Ukraine. That's like Afghanistan 2.0. They just need to wreck it with minor effort and keep it wrecked.

Russia simply wants a no NATO neutral zone, its existence is at stake. The US was going to go nuclear over Cuba.

You don't have to be Balkan. You just have to put yourself in the other person's shoes. Take the other perspective and don't assume they are just nuts.

These experts aren't crazy. Putin isn't just a mad man doing this for fun. This has been brewing since east Germany fell according to these people (Maersheimer, Chomsky, right from Putin himself. Listen to hin speak on YouTube, older economic stuff. He isn't crazy)

Putin has been clear and articulate why he is doing it, and citing specific precedents to justify his actions. It's flawless more or less. Why people insist on intrajecting their own guesses and ignorance is a mystery.

But tell me the scary crazy Russian narrative hasn't been pushed on us for years. They hacked this, they got dirt on Trump. They are gonna shutoff American gas mid winter etc. It's been relentless, preparing for this move to push NATO to their border.
